I'm sure it was a mistake - but I'm just as sure their comparisons are fairly useless as in most cases not just the PS3 but the 360 looks better in the flesh (when I've compared playing games on properly adjusted TVs) vs their footage - which kind of negates the whole point IMHO.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Gametrailers is one of the biggest gaming sites on the internet and is in the top 300 of internet sites, period.
They have all the reason to not be biased and absolutely no sane reason to undermine their advertisers.

Considering their past history and blatant lies when it comes to comparison videos I don't believe this explanation one bit.
May I remind you that first they claimed to compare HD version for PS3 and 360 (i.e. Assassin's Creed). People questionned the fact the PS3 version always looked washed out and blurry and asked them to turn on some options on the PS3 so the image would look better.
GT replied they won't because they only use default settings and cables (which implied PS3 footage was actually in SD). Fans asked GT to compare whats comparable and record HD footage, which GT denied saying it was technically impossible to record from HDMI, and illegal.
Pressured by public opinion GT released a comparaison video nonetheless, but instead of comparing a multiplatform game, they went with a SD/HD comparison of Uncharted. People pointed out GT said no HDMI recording was possible, to which GT suddenly remembered they had a PS3 debug all along.
People once again asked for a fair comparison video of a multiplatform game. GT released a messy video of Burnout paradise comparing SD/HD in both 360 and PS3 at the same time.
Using PS3 footage labelled as 360 footage is just the last straw. They obviously inteded to make us believe that the moon is made of green cheese, but failed miserably to cover their tracks.
Heh their credibility is already gone as far I'm concerned.
First with AC, then with DMC 4, then GTA IV.
this wasnt the first time they downgraded the ps3 version(with AC they didnt turn on FULL RGB, they probably claimed it wasnt on purpose either)
with DMC 4 the ps3 version looked worse, while everyone agrees that DMC 4 ps3 looks slightly better overall.
The GTA IV ps3 version had massive pop-ins, cuz they were flying with high speed through the city with a helicopter.
while the 360 version they were flying with very low speed, aka less pop-in.
And now this, if this was the first time i might give them the benefit of the doubt. But this is the 4th time, only now they r caught red handed.
On all these comparisons videos, strangely always the ps3 looks worse, while games look either identical or slightly favor the ps3.

maybe it looks stupid to support consiracy theories, but they were already suspious by lots of people, this was just the final blow.
Yeah i'll buy it. It was a ridiculously stupid mistake but mistakes happens. Like others said GT has no reason to be biased. Even if MS offered to bankroll them under the table the backlash from the net would seriously cripple their reputation like it has already started to.
You have to remember that even if some individual reviewers are the most hardcore fanboys, odds are their bosses aren't and wouldn't let them jeopardize the site for such an insignificant comparison feature.

Notice how Geoff Keighley's questioning is pretty harsh and brash to the Xbox exec., yet, he is lax and mellow with the Sony rep.

well one version looked worse so i would like an explanation behind that aswell the lying ":@#$@:. Microsoft paying them comes to mind
One little clip that was mistaken for 360's version and the gaming community goes up in arms. It really shows the fanboyism of people out there, they think everything is biased because of a small mistake. Ya Microsoft really paid them big just to use a different clip of a crash so everyone will be very impressed by the major detail that is very so noticeable and all buy 360's instead of ps3's. They wouldn't risk the credibility for something so small. People need to honestly get over it, then if it happens again; go right ahead and flame them.
