Forums - Gaming - GTA is falling from the top 2 places in gamerankings

The fact that people are still talking about LoZ:OoT 10 years later shows how great the game was. In two or three years R* will have another GTA game out that will do everything this game did but better and GTA4 will be forgotten about. And if that isn't the case then on the next generation of systems they will have 2 or 3 GTA games that will surpass it and by the time GTA4 is 10 years old it will be forgotten. LoZ:OoT has stood the test of time and GTA4 has a .00000000000000000000000001% chance of doing the same.

And Rock On, I found GoldenEye to be to easy and boring, what is your point. And if you can't figure out the puzzles in a Zelda game your adventuring skills are weak and need to be honed, you should go play some Zelda to redeem yourself and hone your skills.

I do not like playing RPG games. there is not enough action, violence/ blood in RPG's, RPG stories are long and drawn out.

I don't disagree. I openly hate Gamerankings for being rather stupid. But I figure that if people are going to read so much into these numbers they might as well look at them in a slightly less superficial way.

How about more superficial?

1 - 10 is so five minutes ago. Does this EGM review go with my new purse?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

it was about time!

No kidding. This game is fun, but it is ridiculously over rated. I could talk about technical problems with the game until I was blue in the face, but the two primary mechanics of the game are the most damning:

(1) The shooting sucks. The cover system sucks. It's all been done much better before with other games.

(2) Driving is sub-par. It's not terrible, but it is by no means good.

Since these two mechanics are used for about 90% of all of the (repetitive) missions, the game ends up mostly being the combination of both. As GTA shifts toward casual gamers than the likes of Gears of War, Rainbow Six, or better racing games, most of the players probably don't care as much about how it sucks at these two mechanics.

Every day, I'm becoming more and more convinced that I'm the only person on Earth who actually prefers the new style of driving in GTA to the old arcadey style.

Nah rocketpig, you aren't the only one, I too prefer the new driving style. It's not exactly realistic all the time (I mean you don't see many sports cars these days jack-knifing from a sharp turn), but there's actually a challenge to getting the hang of how each car drives (plus it makes car chases in MP more exciting).

I agree with everything else the two other quoted people said though.

EDIT: To contribute to the thread, the 360 versions done 52 reviews so far, I would say that there'll be 55-65 max by the end of it (nintendo games seem to get more reviews then any other platform and SMG had 69), so I think there's a chance that 360 version will stay above OoT, PS3 version however may be a different story (since it's only at 39 reviews thus far.)

The the problem now that GTA IV has more perfect scores that OoT had reviewers, is that the only way to get attention (looking at you gamernode losers) is to score the game low. Case in point: Edge giving the game a 10/10 and no one noticing because everyone else already had. They are known to be very harsh and gave the game a perfect score.

I'm not too concerned either way. I hope MGS4 outscores them all =)

We all what the best game of all time was, though...and it's different for most people.

Isn't the reason most people still talk about it because it's still the most highly reviewed game? I'm not really sure you can prove the reason people still talk about it proves it's critic score valid, instead of being caused by it's critic score. Personally I wouldn't be talking about the game if it wasn't the highest rated game on gamerankings. I wouldn't have any need to, and yes I played in back in the day.

The reason there were so few review for OoT is because there were fewer reviewers back then. There weren't all the gaming website that are around today. It was just magazines. So you can't really hold OoT responsible for having fewer reviews.

@ Picko

The headbanging pic in your signature is really really distracting/annoying.

Haven't you been talking about Zelda?

So this is how annoying the nintendo brats get when a next gen game gets better reviews than some 5 year old last gen ninteno RPG? LOL! These forums will be a mess when the Wii fad ends. So let me guess, if GTA gets an 96% average than that will mean a mario game is better than a next gen sandbox game? You nintendo kids should get educated on how the rating system works. Wii games get rated by NINTENDO standards. No reviewer has high expectations for a wii game so they rate it based upon wii's capabilities. And since wii is well behind in time and cant cope with next gen physics or graphics, gameplay speed and shit, it gets a better score. If galaxy was on the ps3 or 360, it would get a below 9. Since its well behind ratchet or banjo's gameplay

If you are going to insult a game at least learn when the game was released, and what genre the game is, please.

zelda was there with only 26 reviews...
