Now we just need the PS3 version to drop a little and we're gravy.

I'm fine with it being on that list above everything but OOT, which is my personal favorite of all time.

No kidding. This game is fun, but it is ridiculously over rated. I could talk about technical problems with the game until I was blue in the face, but the two primary mechanics of the game are the most damning:

(1) The shooting sucks. The cover system sucks. It's all been done much better before with other games.

(2) Driving is sub-par. It's not terrible, but it is by no means good.

Since these two mechanics are used for about 90% of all of the (repetitive) missions, the game ends up mostly being the combination of both. As GTA shifts toward casual gamers than the likes of Gears of War, Rainbow Six, or better racing games, most of the players probably don't care as much about how it sucks at these two mechanics.


Every day, I'm becoming more and more convinced that I'm the only person on Earth who actually prefers the new style of driving in GTA to the old arcadey style.


 i like the new way better too.

 

thats good for the game but does it deserve to be there....not really from the technacial point but from a fun point yes it does

 Wonder if the 360 version will take back that spot once it gets DLC.

That's another problem I have with rating games in this era.... they're like every changing with patches and downloads and shit.

Games aren't really an artform at all or something  that should be critqued anymore when the end product can be changed at will. (In my opinion.)

I agree for the most part. I hate that gamers are so obsessed with comparing games between consoles over time. A review score, at its core, is simply meant to say whether a game is good or not at the point of its release. It's practically impossible to properly compare titles over time so why bother trying? When I look at the scores for GTA IV and OoT all I really see is that they say that OoT was pretty awesome when it was released and GTA IV was pretty awesome when it was released. Nothing more and nothing less.

That said, if they are going to be obsessed with review scores they should at least look at things in a deeper way than simply averages. My brief analysis, I think, adds a little bit more to the discussion which is worthwhile to look at.

 You're more likely to get "pwnage" over the other guys with objective numbers than anything else. That's why gamers are obsessed with review scores. Of course better objective numbers should lead to even more "pwnage".

Why u say that? I really dont care what game has the top spot. I like GTA4, im enjoying the game very much..only my judgement matters to me. All people say about games biashed or not its just people opinions.  If u love a game a score cant change ur opinion about it.

Seriously now, i found out about gamerankings here, in this forums.

Its pathetic to care who is first. fanboys do that
