Forums - Nintendo - are gameboy advance cartridges really region free?

so i really wanna play fire emblem released on the gba in 2003 but unfortunately it was never released in pal territories so i'm going to have to buy an american version. I was ready to buy an american gba but i heard that gba carts are actually region free, if they are i'll be well chuffed cause finding decent gba games on pal carts is a mighty task. Also any opinions on fire emblem 2003 for the gba, i'll be buying fe sacred stones aswell although i believe this was released in pal territories. cheers guys.

nintendo and sega fan since i was old enough to hold a game controller.

note: my games collection on my profile is only 20ish% complete, i've got a boatload of 360,saturn and dreamcast games to add and a few ps3 games, thanks :)

I know the ds cartridges are. Never bought a gba game from a different region though.

As far as I know, Gameboy, GBC, GBA, DS, and PSP (games not movies) are region free, to help with the portability aspect of them.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Well, I've imported a few games from Japan for my US GBA and they work fine^^, so I don't see why it wouldn't work for American to PAL.

Oh, and about Fire Emblem, if you've played any of the other ones and liked it, You'll like this one.

If you haven't played any, I'd still suggest it 'cause it's fun as heck.

oh right, sounds promising then, i'll have to look deeper into the used games at my vid store and see what other gems i can find then. With regards to fire emblem, i've played radiant dawn after a load of recomendations from various vg members and loved it, finished easy in 48 hours (first fe game i played) and started normal straight after the end scenes. i've ordered path of radiance aswell so i can complete the story between the two.......... i can't believe i ignored the series all this time.

Regions are only for TVs. Since portable game systems come with their own screens, they don't have regions at all.
