Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto to develop old school style!

Guys I KNOW what he is going to do...

He said he always wanted to create* an FPS but it was shot down** so it seems logical that if he got a chance to make his 100% own game that it would be a FPS!

Remember Quake was only 40MB so it can be done in Wiiwares space and it could be online as well....The first really great FPS on Wii could be done by Our Man M of N himself. Expect Map packs and advanced modes as DLC.

*"Play" has been interpreted Create in this context
**Well it was for Zelda on the N64....

 no thx

Hey guys. Can we form up a team, invest and develop a WiiWare game and make money of it? Anyone got ideas?

Wii Code: 4819-7684-2396-4558

I don't recall ever hearing about an FPS pruposed by Miyamoto, just wondering where I could read about that. I could have sworn Miyamoto was given 100% control over Nintendo EAD Tokyo and could greenlight any project he wanted already. I know he advized N-Space with Giest and he also advized Silicon Knights when they did MetalGear:TwinSnakes but to my knowledge that is as close as he has ever gotten to making or proposing an FPS!

Miyamoto is already pretty free as far as projects go. he has creative control over all of his properties, without Miyamoto I'm not sure how Nintendo would cope.

An FPS from Miyamoto would be very intresting because Miyamoto isn't a cookie cut game developer, he doesn't steal any ideas or conform to any existing cookie cutters metaphorically speaking. I'd expect to see some new wonky mascot weilding some new weird weapon that is completely out of this world fighting some enemies that look pretty cute.

I dunno FPS just doesnt fit Miyamoto's classic style. Of course that what Miyamoto is so good at breaking patterns and disrupting the industry with new innovative ideas!

It was in one of those Nintendo in-house interviews, discussing the Wii Zapper.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

heh, yea I kinda laughed when I heard he wanted Zelda FPS the initial idea of "The Master Gloc." crossed my mind but then I realized he mean't first person perspective Zelda.

As for shooters, I don't think he wanted to make a shooter per say but if he does, I'm sure he would redefine the genre and create the genres new figure head, that will be bought in portions (digital arms and legs and all that)

Anyway, good luck to him on that.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Well he did actually say he liked and played FPS games, so it's not a massive leap for him to create something FPSish....but I think it would be more Portal then Quake, but most likely something completely left of the field.

I feel bad for Mr. Miyamoto.

I believe people expect demand way too much from him.

It would be just a nice little hobby project for him  to try out a few interesting ideas. I think something outside his normal field would be refreshing for him. He should do it under an alias

Should be interesting. I don't expect it to meet other games standards, but if it does, it would be amazing.

On a completely unrelated note, Nintendo is pleased to announce a new title in development by their new up and coming producer Otomy Mai.
