now that i looked harder i see some sony devs. that still doesnt allow for them to put all of nintendo than. same thing. can you put all of ea for a ea canada (wouldnt though)? or t2 for rockstar. even se is on a bunch of lists. if its a rule than it should be universal. if that the case than i cant choose a best dev.

Actually, there is a reason for that. Nintendo consolidated all of its developers into a single corporate entity, except for HAL Labs and Retro; Sony has not. A few are officially part of the Sony brand, but many aren't (such as Team Ico). That's the problem.

If you picked Team Ico, or Polyphony Digital, or Sony itself, I don't think anyone would argue with you, man. All of them have made some very popular games :)

Nintendo Valve Blizzard. They need to get together for a Nintendo-based MMOFPS Those 3 put quality first, everything else second, in my opinion (in most games)

Did you notice we picked the same companies, for the exact same reason? ^_^

I thought Intelligent Systems was still seperate from Nintendo. Atleast it is on the title screen of Super Paper Mario: "Nintendo / Intelligent Systems"

I didn't think so, but I don't own SPM. Checking right now!

so almost none of nintendo devs have names? or are they in one building?

my pillars of gaming: kh, naughty dog, insomniac, ssb, gow, ff

i officially boycott boycotts.  crap.

It's not that they don't have names...it's just plain "Nintendo" making the games. Is that so impossible?  I'm sure they've got plenty of in-house names for different divisions, but it comes out as a nice "Nintendo" label on the game.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

They do have names... for example, the guys who originally made Metroid are/were known as "Nintendo R&D team 1." The easiest way to explain it is this: Sony can sell off Team Ico without any fancy paper work, as it's just a separate company that they happen to own. If Nintendo wanted to sell off the Metroid devs, they couldn't, at least easily. It's a part of their company. I suppose it would technically be possible to portion of a piece of your company, but it would be messy. They'd first have to legally separate the division from their corporate holdings, and then they could sell it.

Put it this way: selling the Metroid devs would be like selling a kidney. Selling Team Ico would be like selling a diamond you are holding in your hand. It's technically possible to sell both, but the kidney is part of you, and it's a lot messier to get that on the market :p

From a Wikipedia article: "Super Metroid (スーパーメトロイド Sūpā Metoroido?) is an adventure video game developed by Nintendo R&D1 and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System video game console. Super Metroid is the third installment in the Metroid series of video games. With its 24-megabit cartridge size, it was the largest game available for the console at the time of its release.[1]"
