Thats actually an accurat statement,GTA being a western game sells great in Japan about 400k first week great.

400k for previous installments is a respectable number for the game. I can see it selling more than that this time around. Disolitude maybe you should do research before you speak.


hmm, lets see...400k for a game sold on a platform that sold over 20 million around that time frame.

GTA4 is going on sale on 3.7 million consoles. You can do research all you want but common sense you will not find...

Also, 400K is one half of Army of 2 in USA alone btw...does that game gave "Amazing sales"?


See there is where you fail at math. You are comparing the popularity of the game in other regions to its sales in Japan. Sure the game sold a boat load but no matter how you slice it 400k (for the ps2 version) is still a solid figure,

Okami sold 150k Monster Hunter 2 610k in japan... 400-500k sales for GTA in japan is phenominal.

Are you really serious?

Did anyone ACTUALLY EXPECT Mario Kart Wii to outsell GTAIV?

An under-hyped game on a system that usually sells games through legs not intial sales was going to beat the most hyped game of the generation through first week sales where the PS360 are strongest at?

I'm not sure what the point is here.

If you consider Mario Karts sales poor you don't know much about past history. Mario Kart was not expected to get anywhere near GTAIV for 1st week sales, I am actually suprised how well MKWii is doing.

400k would be 20% of the PS3 userbase in Japan and would make it the third best selling PS3 game. Ain't gonna happen.

Mario Kart will indeed have better legs, proportionately at least.

Nintendo showed it could move the games and consoles right under the nose of the GTA launch, so I'd say it's a success for them.

I don't get why some HD console folks hate on the Wii.  It's only tangentially related to the HD game market (though obviously there's overlap), and as last week showed there is room for both to have huge weeks/successes at the same time.

Once again it seems that Wii and PS3 only compete if it's in the PS3's favor but as soon as Wii stomps PS3...oh, they don't really compete.

The Mega franchise period.

That would be The Sims. GTA is an extremely large franchise, but is a mile away from the top.

This is where your logic fails again... Did you see the drop GTA: San Andreas had on ps2? After 10 weeks no one gave a ratts ass about GTA in japan.
