Assassins Creed (pretty repetitive game play. But if stories can hold your attention this is a pretty good game if you look past the repetitivness.)

I wouldn't reccomend DMC4 or MGS4 unless you want to go back and catch up on what you missed.

buy uncharted ,,,the story and variety in game theme in it is really good,,,

if you like hack and slash with good story and beautiful graphics get heavenly sword

There are so many great PS2 games that I don't want to start listing.

If you just got a PS3 and don't have a 360 there are a lot of multiplat games worth getting, even without shooters.

After that, rent Heavenly Sword (it was lot's of fun, but too short to make it worth $60). If you're into shooters, check out Resistance and Warhawk as well.

Depending on the demands of your job, I'd say to rent Uncharted - you can beat it in a day. I really like LocoRoco Coccoreccho.

I own Uncharted and I definately agree with this. While it's a fun game, it's on the short side and can easily be beaten in one rental period.
