Yeah its funny how that works sometimes.

Final Fantasy needs a rest. It's a series I used to love but have since completely lost interest. It's a shame too because they really have gotten so much prettier. Actually I think I've lost interest in RPGs almost completely. Wait no, I want Quest for Glory back, and that was an RPG, maybe I'm just tired of that style of RPG. Should I should try oblivion? Why Contra?!? Hasn't it already had a break? Heck, I haven't played a "real" Contra games since Alien Wars. Hard Corps was almost, but not quite. Everything after that hasn't quite captured the old school feel. I hear the lastest installment was good, but not quite Contra enough. So taking that into consideration I'd say Contra has had a long break and is actually due for a revival.
I dunno. I own Neo Contra and its pretty lame. Mind you that was a few years ago now. they would need to make vast improvements on it though. i prefer to just remember the good old Contra days myself. im quite content with my old Contra Games. I feel the exact same way about FF. I think FFIX was the most times i've ever played a RPG. it just totally pulled me in and i couldnt get enough of the characters. after that i got X, X-2 and XI and now i just give up. they do look amazing but they dont have the charm that any of the early ones had. I think that the Merge between Squaresoft and Enix was a terrible thing. I find their games a lot more watered down and safe now. they just use formulas that they know will sell and all they rely on is graphics (which arnt enough no matter how good it looks). I havnt played one game by Square-Enix that i have enjoyed and that hurts because i was really looking forward to future FF titles and Kingdom Hearts. They are going to have to do something toally unique and new to get my money back instead of relying on the same old tricks they have been using for the last couple years.

Act Raiser and Rock n Roll racing (2 games you mentioned) NEED more sequals. Expecially RnRR. Heck, the whole car-combat genre needs new life. Full Auto sucked.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
Dude... What the hell is this for kind of crap?! You want all good longlasting franchises to disapear?!
Screw you! I don't care if it is the 13th FF or the 12th Zelda... I'll still play em! Why?! Cause they still are the franchises leaders! So i don't give a fuck about you wanting to stop the franchises! It'd just be stupid! Cause they sell millions! So that means a lot of people who want to play these games! Which eventually means: People like it! So devs make it! So you are wrong!
(Sorry for the evil reaction but it's just SO STUPID!)
About half of the list of games/franchises YOU want to disapear is in MY list of favorite games!
EDIT: And for games you want back: Rygar... It's coming to Wii in 2008! Confirmed!

I agree with a few of his opinions. Final Fantasy needs to either go away for awhile or take a new approach. The games are getting pretty stale IMO at this point and I'm obviously not the only one. Sales have been in a near steady decline since VII. Hopefully XIII will turn things around but I'm not holding my breath. Halo needs a new approach after H3 is released. Bungie promised the end of the Master Chief story and I'd like to see them kill the FPS gameplay at least for awhile. Come at us with something a little different. Halo Wars has the potential to do this. Mario Party needs to die a horrible, bloody death. It's done. Give it up for a few years, Nintendo and come back with something fresh. RE5 turning back to the Umbrella Corp story makes me want to scream. You had a much cooler story (and zombies) in RE4, Capcom. Why are you doing this to me? Bionic Commando needs to return, like yesterday. A 2D platformer on PSP or DS. Make it happen. Kid Icarus would be an interesting update. I'd like to see them try it. Prince of Persia, though relatively new to returning to shelves, is already getting annoying. Please stop releasing games every 4 months, you bastards. Way to drive a surging franchise into the ground. Metroid. A lot of you will bash me for this but Metroid was never meant to be an FPS. While I've played the games and they're decent, they will always be bastardizations of the original and Super Metroid. I'd like to see Nintendo try a drastically different approach to this series though I'll give MP3 the benefit of the doubt. This was all I could come up with off the top of my head.

Oh, two more: Parasite Eve. Square, you used to make great games. A lot of them. Most of them weren't Final Fantasy games. You also brought us classics like Einhander. Try to revive at least one of these franchises, please. And my vote goes to Parasite Eve. Conker. MS needs a platformer and the N64 Conker game was hilarious. Why haven't we seen a truly new game in this franchise for 10 years? Splinter Cell. Conviction better be good because I can actually feel the life force being drawn out of this franchise. If Conviction isn't great, shelve it for awhile, Ubi. Not that you ever will, because you're a giant whore. But it would be nice.

I think with Final Fantasy games, each number is in its own universe. They are really just leeching off the franchise so that they can get popularity through that. So it really is a new series each time.
Starfox did go downhill after Starfox 64, they're still not back up to the quality I'd expect.
