I'm willing to bet that, viewed in motion and at their full resolutions, the '05 CGI video would still easily have the better graphics.

Regardless: Killzone 2's actual graphics are far closer to the '05 CGI video than I bet anyone would have imagined.

The ones on the left were from a fake "in-game" movie shown at E3 years back when Sony claimed it was all in-game and they got torn apart on it.


Exactly and suddenly all of the people that have been tearing them apart look a bit stupid no? Yes it still doesn't look quite as good as the E3 video but wow have we come a long way.

The rendered version still looks better but I would be content with what they've done graphically if the gameplay is as good as it looks.

Kryos,

Awesome, the actual trailer and not footage from a handheld. Anybody notice that Rico's voice (if that's his name) sounds different than the E3 2007 trailer (I believe he's the squad leader?), but maybe that's just a weird detail that I noticed out of everything else.

The fire and especially the lighting are better in the actual game, but the CGI trailer has it beat on poly count. The animations are smoother in the CGI trailer, but look more lifelike in the actual game. I'm sure they'll have everything much smoother in the final build, though.
