Ya but how are reviews broken? People loved Mario Galaxy and thats one of the highest rated games of all time. People disliked (well a lot did compaired to the other mario karts) Mario Kart Wii and thats got around an average review of 82%.
Plus GTA4 wont be the highest rated game of all time either. Eventually it will drop just like all the other games do but calling GTA4 mediocre is just wrong. It in my opinion is revolutionary.

I. Didn't. Call. GTA. Mediocre.
Read it again.

i think gta4 is great. but i also think it didnt deserve the scores it got. same goes for halo 3. halo 3 is not a 'AAA' game to me. neither is gta 4 unfortunately. call of duty 4, now that's a game that deserved its score.
Wait I read it again and I have to ask. When you said mediocre did you mean games in General? If so I apologize but it seems like it was aimed towards GTA4 since that was the main example in the article.

No, I didn't call GTA mediocre. I actually quite like the game. It was an assault on reviewers in general, the focus just happened to center around GTA.
I could have written the same article for BioShock, Super Mario Galaxy, Halo 3, or almost any other big budget title that received scores well above what it deserved.

But you didn't.
People bitched endlessly about Halo 3 and how it was supposedly a disappointment (it actually got me into the series, so I don't see how).

Those games I listed were all good games. The only problem was that they weren't nearly as innovative or great as people made them out to be (the closest IMO would be SMG). Halo 3 wasn't much more than Halo 2 with tweaks. There's nothing wrong with that, I just don't see how so many sites gave it a 10/10 (or, inversely, how some sites gave it a 7.5/10). The same goes for BioShock. In several ways, it's actually a step back from their System Shock series. At least Halo didn't regress at all, though BioShock did have stellar artistic design.

Perhaps you could say the review system is broken, just like all subjective reviews are broken. It depends too much on feeling and hype.
Tease.
