Ok since I've been following this game for quite some time, I'm going to go into some presumable less known details about this game and Nectar primarily. There seems to be some strange doubts on points that are less-than-obviously amazing (IMHO). Nectar makes everything easy for a reason :P Playing without the nectar is damn near impossible, it's hard to find the enemies, you don't get the additional zoom, and you have far less "auto aim", on top of the fact that you don't get the armor or speed bonus, Nectar is making a digital attempt at getting you addicted, and in that regard I think they did a FANTASTIC job. I really feel like less of a player without it. Nectar does a few weird things though that tie into the story, some you guys may have noticed, some you might not have. Nectar makes your vision of reality quite different than what it really is. You guys may have noticed random white butterfly's in the air, thats what corpses become when you kill them :P Nectar makes bodies disappear to keep the mantel troops version of death "under wraps" and far less questionable in terms of choosing right and wrong. When the pilot of the ship first sees you, the first question he asks you is if you can see him, as I mentioned earlier when the body dies it disappears, this is more of a "doubts" situation. Some of you guys noticed that rock during the Nectar disruption :P Throughout the coarse of the game, the main character's body will randomly fight the influence of nectar, this causes him to briefly see the world for what it really is, as in the case of the rock, there was a charred body screaming in pain, but because of the nectar is just seemed like a bunch of destroyed rubble :P When asked to the other soldier he played it off as "animal noises", he's obviously sippin the juice ;/ As a rebel troop, you'll get the ability to play dead, now at first I thought it was a pretty lame concept, but after hearing about the effects of nectar, taking a few bullets, and playing dead will make your corpse disappear and give the enemy that quick nectar boost making it feel like a kill on his end, this plays to your advantage because you can spring up and make him Overdose :P Making him an enemy to EVERYONE including himself, (any of you guys seen the grenade while O.D ing? :D ) As a mantel trooper you can take additional nectar doses from your allies, but as a Rebel, you can take the nectar packs off your dead enemies and create nectar grenades, or lather your knife in the stuff to easily make the enemies overdose, as a rebel you'll be lying in ambush far more often and you'll most certainly be playing the overdose as a very viable weakness on your enemies behalf, keep in mind, all of this is in the multi-player as well :D I can't confirm this info, but apparently while on nectar, your body fights off apparent feeling of weakness, I've heard there is a scene later in the game where shane (the main character) has a disrpution while looking at one of his allies, and his body is ravished, he's bleeding badly from his face, his armor is FUBAR, and he's breathing very heavily, your disruption ends and the soldier appears just fine, your partner is even making witty/rediculous comments still. This is supposedly one of the many factors that makes Shane question Mantel. |
