Forums - General - Do you smoke pot?

I started smoking pot at the end of the 1st year of university (I just finished my 3rd year) and like most things, it comes down to moderation. I did however find that school did seem less stressful and I was actually better organized after I started smoking it. Funny enough I just had the best academic year of my life and that was when I increased my smoking.

However, I only do it alone when I'm at home for several reasons. I don't want to drive impaired, gaming High is awesome, and I like to be alone with my thoughts when I'm that way. On average I think I smoke a spliff 2-3 times a month.

Also, I've only gotten drunk once in my life (My 20th Birthday last year) and I did more damage to myself and others than I ever did High. I chipped a tooth, tried jumping out of a hotel window and punched my best friend in the face. If you claim people who smoke pot are morons or idiots and you drink alcohol you're a hypocrite.

you mention moderation when it comes to smoking weed

then your alcohol story, i feel there was no moderation involved.

I smoked it heavily for about 15 years then I got married and decided to quit.

I think it affects everyone differently, I've accomplished a lot with my life during that period and still going strong.

Everytime I smoked, I just felt like doing...SOMETHING. Playing cards, games, serious discussion. Mainly games though. It actually reached a point when, if I didn't get to play a game or something, I would get all panicky. That's why I say it affects everyone differently, it sort of magnifies your mindset.

Oh, I prefer a roll-on, which is just a spliff/cone rolled onto the top of a cigarette.

It was my first time drinking, and I got drunk. I have little to no tolerance for alcohol so the little bit I had fucked me up.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I have not in three months, but as I said in other threads I have a medical license in the US and can smoke the best quality buds legally anytime I want. Just have to drive to one of many dispencaries like it was a liqour store. I am dissapointed I didn;t grow plants this summer like last, but since I don't smoke much anymore it doesn't matter.

Some questions:

1. Do a lot of people have marijuana liscences in the US?

2. How do you get one? Do you actually have to have cancer or are there lesser diseases that also make you qualify?

I'm just curious after watching that South Park about it...

It varies by state on how easy it is to get one, and what  diseases it can be used for. Some states also make it harder obtain legal weed once you have medical card. But for California its very easy and if you have a prescription for almost anything you can get one.

No. I do not.

1. No, California and Colorado are by far the biggest states with medical marijuana, but 15 states  currently allow it. Also one funny thing in the District of Columbia where Washington DC is allows it. The capital of my hypocritical country!!!

2.I got mine just by saying I had chronic foot pain (pun intended) after breaking it twice and having to get surgery for it. Most of the people who have medical licenses in Colorado get it for chronic pain. So no you do not need a terminal illness to get one. People get it for anxiety, arthritis, glacoma, and probably many other less dibilitating diseases.

Oh and that South Park episode that is based in Colorado was making fun of the huge boom in medical marijuana that has been occuring over the past two years here. Pot is big business in Colorado it brings a lot of tax revenue and more and more people are getting medical to not be criminals. In fact, there is a  popular bumper sticker that says "No pain no Jane." It is reflecting on the fact that most people say they have chronic pain to get the medical license. This condition can not be proven wrong as pain is a compleatly subjective experience. So it is showing how hypocritical the laws are, if you claim pain you have jane, but anybody else is a criminal. Talk about hypocracy.

nope

and wow talk about a HUGE waste of money. my buddies would spend $50 every couple weeks buying pot, that is EACH, not as a group. so since on game site, essentailly every two weeks you could either BUY A NEW GAME or BUY POT

If it was legal then they wouldn't have to spend so much money on it (and taxes would go to the government not lining some drug dealers pocket).  I wasted a lot of money in the past on it but I really don't care.  I have too many games anyways that I haven't even played.

In my younger days, I believed this to be a good arguement for legalization, but (remember) if it was legal most everyone who wanted it would just grow it.  Sure some would opt for the more processed and refined stuff, but taxing pot won't bring in near the revenue as taxing alcohol and tobacco.

For the record, I have not ever smoked, nor do I intend to do so.  I had many friends who did, and I found the contact highs alone enough to be unpleasant.  I also do not drink or use tobacco or any other drugs.  However, I have become a libertarian over the past decade or so, so... do as you must.

EDIT:  Truth in advertising statement:  I will admit that I drink a lot of teas (not the sugared, flavored crap just earl grey, green and black).  This will save someone who misunderstands my post from trying to enlighten me about the hipocracy of not consuming alcohol, pot etc. and drinking a caffeinated beveridge.
