I disagree - as a long term observer of the console wars, I can say that nearly all of these predictions were made after E3 2006, when the attendees got their first chance to test drive the Wii. If you remember that time, the floor footage showed huge stampedes toward the Wii booth (we're talking Braveheart-like charges) and lines that spanned up to five hours, the first definitive signs that Nintendo was onto something. Based on that information alone, paid analysts of all people should have recognized that there was more to the Wii than its predecessors would suggest. Instead, they chose to discount Nintendo, secure in their belief that Nintendo had faded into irrelevance. As the cnet article link shows, many people stubbornly cling to that belief no matter what the sales reports say.
