this is dumb. its easy to say they're bad predictions now.

back then nobody would have said the wii would be leading. you would have been an idiot to think that.

i bet most of the rabid ninty fanboys on this site didn't be on the wii to win this gen.

My predictions from back on Oct 12, 2006.  http://sogencon.org/forum/index.php?topic=364.0

Sorry, but Malstrom is far from being an idiot, and he predicted Wii would win, analysis in point, before even the launch. Here they are, at http://thewiikly.zogdog.com/archive.php, look for :

Theory of Cycles

Deja Vu

Age of Disruption

Wii Fallacies

The Console of Mass Destruction

Alas, Microsoft

Why Wii Won (November 20 2006, for the Wii launch)

Deja Vu DS

If Consoles Were Ships

Read and learn. The others are crappy, but Malstrom is awesome.

I remembered a report on E3 2006 on The Sun (UK). They stated how only 20-something% of the people they interviewed prefer the Wii (compared to 30-something for the X360 and 40-something for the PS3). Haha, those were the times.

And a few weeks ago, there was an article on The London Paper talking about the phenomenon of "socializing through Wii Sports"!

I became convinced of the Wii sight-unseen, when a friend of mine first described it to me, and how the remote would operate. At first, quite honestly, I couldn't really believe it. In that one conversation I went from most likely getting a PS3 to definitely getting a Wii.

But, even then, I never would have predicted the levels of success it's seen (I still would've picked Sony to "win" the gen). Frankly, I don't think Nintendo quite anticipated the magnitude of its own incredible success.

funny how that gamespot april fools joke would be the only accurate analysis of the Wii

Welcome to VGChartz Grampy. I, by the way, am insane. Don't know about insanely funny. The Wii will fail because there aren't enough buttons and all of that moving around stuff is for the birds. Malstrom is a genius, by the way, in my honest opinion.

I disagree - as a long term observer of the console wars, I can say that nearly all of these predictions were made after E3 2006, when the attendees got their first chance to test drive the Wii.  If you remember that time, the floor footage showed huge stampedes toward the Wii booth (we're talking Braveheart-like charges) and lines that spanned up to five hours, the first definitive signs that Nintendo was onto something.  Based on that information alone, paid analysts of all people should have recognized that there was more to the Wii than its predecessors would suggest.  Instead, they chose to discount Nintendo, secure in their belief that Nintendo had faded into irrelevance.  As the cnet article link shows, many people stubbornly cling to that belief no matter what the sales reports say.

Well GTA4 just killed the Wii, and I can't see any more than a couple of dozen console more ever getting sold, so they were only wrong by 2 million or so. Pretty good really.

what are you smoking? the week GTA came out the Wii DOMINATED the charts.

im sorry, GTA4, a casual game, a game thats on 2 consoles, will not kill anything. its a game everyone will buy

no matter what. its a game people would of bought if it was on the wii. it wont be a deciding factor in gaming

domination.

stop being a fanboy, give in, and give up. people like you are really annoying.

^ Time to give the old sarcasm/joke detector a tune-up.  Or alternatively, you could actually read the posts in the thread and see that Parokki pretty much came out and told you he was not serious.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.
