I also quite enjoyed march of the minis - as everybody said there's no DS cdoming out anytime soon the way I see it and even if it were announced at E3 (which is unlikely as the DS is still selling strong and Ninty are pouring all of their resources into the Wii at the moment) then the very earliest you'd see it on the shelves is 09 outside of Japan I reckon.

Aiden.cronus is right. Just because she's a girl gamer doesn't mean she'll like the pink DS. I'm a female gamer and I hate pink so I got the black DS. Just make sure to find out what color she likes before you buy.

Your girlfriend lives in the present, not the future, I don't think she gives a crap about there being a new DS in a year.

Hell I'm sure if you bought her a black and white gameboy and a few of it's gems she'd still have a blast. Were there no other handhelds than the GB you'd gave a blast with that too. I mean PC gaming was light years away of gameboy in the 90ies, didn't prevent it from selling well.
