i do wish sumone made a time line of sony takeing on the 360 and how the war was turned :P


i thin sony wanted low sales at first so thay wont losse too much $$$ and when thay broke even thay would want more sales (now) just think what thay will do too the ps3 when it makes a profit thay will want ALOT more sales :P probly by the time mgs4 bundle gets out?

What do you mean by quickly lol at the start of this year(jan4) there was 7.1m diff between the two. 5 months later there is 6.3m I wouldnt call the gap closing quike at all but it is closing never the less.

P.S the 360 did outsell the ps3 in 2007 look at the numbers on this site lol

Oh, is that what I think?  Actually it's not.  I have no illusions that MS is not full of PR puffery themselves.  But at least they use things like "numbers" and games that already exist instead of unproven properties that have been delayed eight times.

Gears,Halo3,Mass Effects, Bioshock vs. Resistance, Uncharted and Ratchet

in 2007.

They have no chance in hell with

Fable2, Gears2 and Too Human vs. MGS4, LBP and Resistance2.

in 2008.

That doesn't mean that the 360 is "dead". But the chances of coming out on top for the 360 are going against zero (Unless they get a World of Warcraft port or something). No the 360 isn't dead and it will be alive and kicking and probably even make a dollar or two for MS. But it will eat PS3 dust from now on. The question is how far ahead will the PS3 be.

360 did outsell ps3 in 2007 tho...

xbox sold 8,334,419 vs ps3's futile 7,855,121

 

Haha, it was all over for PS3 in 2007... it didn't sell as much as 360 that year.

Well ,its true Sony has been outselling MS for over half a year now despite MS price drops.THe day Sony lowers the PS3 price further MS will hit a wall.

MS isnt responding because they know Sony is saying the truth.THe less than 1m lead they still have over PS3 in UK is more than compensated by the other markets.

We are just led to believe 360 is ahead in Europe because Europe is in Others in the webpage.But that 1m lead is mostly because of the fantabulous "Others others" numbers we just cant confirm.

Sony has said they have over 5 million in Europe right now.Add to that Australia and Others others and the amount of consoles for Others must be around 5.7 more than 5.2.The 360 lead relies only in Australia and "Others others".

About the delayed games etc ...well ,its true.This generation is pushing things too far,we are literally waiting ages for games to come out.But Sony isnt the only one that suffers this ...after all Too Human and Fable 2 have been delayed many times.


And as for the main concern of the OP ,rest easy.The PS3 and 360 are co-existing right now.In some territories the PS3 will be dominant (Japan,Europe) and in others the 360 (US).Only thing is that the 360 will be dominant in those but with a smaller margin.

Hey congradulations quote the slowest months of the year instead of the biggest gap to the smallest gap. Pretty pathetic for a 40 month head start if you ask me. (By this time next year the Ps3 may be above it)

I don't believe the PS3 will continue as strongly as the PS2 did when its successor is released.  The primary reason for this is cost: the PS2 was likely less than 1/2 as expensive to manufacture on release as the PS3.  This means that as cost reductions occurred, Sony was able to get the PS2 to $130 and make a nifty profit on it.  At the same time, the PS3 was $500 and $600 at launch, and eventually dropped to $400 and $500.  This made the PS2 the only Sony platform in reach for many Sony faithful.

When the PS4 comes out, it probably won't be as expensive to manufacture and it probably won't be priced nearly as high as the PS3.  The PS3 won't benefit from the price disparity that the PS2 benefited from.  Sony now sold their Cell fab plant, and will more likely use even more off-the-shelf components from companies that specialize in making those components.

If my speculation turns out true, and none of it is unreasonable, then the PS3 will likely not have nearly the same success in the second half of its life as the PS2 did.
