So Sony just recently had their Playstation thingie and re-announced a bunch of games.  Their execs also flapped their gums a lot.  What I got from it was this:  GTAIV DLC is Microsoft's last chance for Xbox 360 to be successful, Microsoft has lost hardware sales battle in Europe, and that the PS3 is going to be the ultimate platform for the next 9 years, overcoming both the Wii and the Xbox 360.

Now, I do understand that I should expect SCEE execs to say stuff like this.  And I do expect fanboys to eat it up like it's the word of God.  What I don't understand is how they have balls big enough to claim ANY of these things.  They don't give any substantial numbers to back up what they're saying, they don't have ANY proof that the exclusive titles they're promoting are going to be any good, and they are still currently WELL in third place in the console race.

This kind of thing is what I don't get about Sony for the current generation.  It's kind of like how Hillary Clinton was getting steam rolled in state after state after state and then suggested that Obama should be her running mate when she wins.  Sony in no way has a victory locked up right now (and we don't even know what numbers we're going to use to declare a "victory" anyway).  Yes, they have a nice machine, but it is hard to develop for, is still considered a bit too expensive, and still doesn't have that much of a library.  Their games constantly get held back and they seem to be putting all their eggs in one basket by constantly talking about these delayed exclusives as if once these are all released the PS3 will take over the world.

I'm not going to run down the list of all the awesome stuff that is coming out for the 360 this year.  You guys probably know the list by heart at this point.  What I'm going to do is ask one question:  When is MS going to respond to all this speculative puffery?  When the NPD numbers come out next month?  This is why I get so frustrated with MS in the console war as well as the Mac vs. PC war.  They let their competition slander them, spout untrue sales numbers, and make wild claims and never step in and defend themselves.  If Europe is considered by MS to be the main battleground for this year, why aren't they stepping up this week with some counter statements???  

I wish that the PS3 and Xbox 360 could just co-exist.  I'm sick of the flame wars and arguments.  What do you guys think about all this? 

GTA4 DLC isn't their last chance they still have a few things such as:

- Price drop in NA
- Gears of War 2 in November
- Smaller titles like Fable 2, Too Human, Alan Wake, etc.


but yeah, other than a few things like that PS3 is gaining rapidly.

That's what I'm talking about.  Every time there's any good news about the PS3, the fanboys declare that the 360 is "dead".  That's a hell of a statement to make, since it's based on numbers that don't even exist yet.  I'm sick of people announcing the 360's death. 

lol well in 3th place we are under 1m system away in other too over take you guys there then all thats left is NA and you guys havent outsold the ps3 wrold wide for half a year now..........our BIG exlusive games are just a few weeks away and thay will be hiting hard and fast

Seriously if the 360 couldn't outsell the PS3 with

Gears,Halo3,Mass Effects, Bioshock vs. Resistance, Uncharted and Ratchet

in 2007.

They have no chance in hell with

Fable2, Gears2 and Too Human vs. MGS4, LBP and Resistance2.

in 2008.

That doesn't mean that the 360 is "dead". But the chances of coming out on top for the 360 are going against zero (Unless they get a World of Warcraft port or something). No the 360 isn't dead and it will be alive and kicking and probably even make a dollar or two for MS. But it will eat PS3 dust from now on. The question is how far ahead will the PS3 be.
