I wouldn't mind Doom 4 - although I'm assuming that id now gather that 'monster closets' and other old tricks wear thin when overused.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

hum I hope it won't be as pathetic as the 3 one.... I was so pissed at that game.... scripted from A to Z and the poorest story I've ever seen.... (yeah i'm exaggerating)... but I was so pissed by the end cut scene I thought I was about to throw the PC by the window lol....
if they just keep the atmosphere and improve all the rest it can be good

id (essentially) created the genre and most of the cliches with Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake ... Today everything they have done has been done better by other companies, and (in my opinion) they should be focusing on making something new rather than return to the same formula that once worked so well.
now we need Quake V

Nice, I actually enjoyed Doom 3 so it'll be interesting to see how this ends up.
This generation is starting to resemble movies lately, franchises long dead suddenly receiving sequels.
This feels like the generation of nostalgia or something.
I blame Nintendo. Suddenly Nintendo and it's 70's-80's generated characters are cool again and everyone decides to jump right back in full nostalgia guns blazing.
Works for me. I loved those NES/Genisis/SNES/computer era franchises.
Well... not Doom. But still.

I hope it's radically different to Doom 3. Which was really quite a let down...
I'd like to see more information about the title 'Rage' actually, it sounds quite interesting.

Doom is awesome. I am not so sure about the new ID engines though. Faces look even more shiny than Unreal3 faces and all the talk about easier development doesn't automatically make better-looking games.
Just give me a double barrel shotgun, some rock music, and some awesome levels. More Doom 2, less Doom 3 please.
I didn't enjoy Doom 3. The horror atmosphere was so-so, the darkness was overdone, and I got annoyed that a shotgun blast to the face does as much damage as a blast to the ankle. Hit locations are about ten years old now, get with the program.
