Forums - Gaming - Bitter about GTAIV's review score?? I know I'm not

First off, I'm a Nintendo fanboy. I haven't played GTAIV, AND likely never will (if I want a sandbox game I'm buying No More Heroes)

Now, my actual point is this. Who here, when looking at game reviews, decides not to even read the review, but instead look at it based off a simple number?

That's right, anybody who would say yes to that is much too lazy to even post saying that they do this.

Sales are the most important thing at the end of the day. How journalists review a video game matters very little to the average Joe. Very little difference between a 9 out of 10 and a 10 out of 10. Both games with scores of 9 and over are must buy games and the best of their genres, ie elite games.

Not even to bash No More Heroes, but seriously you cant compair these two games. As someone thats now beaten GTA IV and played a good chunk of No More Heroes... Your doing yourself a great injustice.

As for the comment, I dont take offense to the scores at all, and I have read every single one of them (I was seriously dying to get this game), I dont find much in the way of bias, they have all stated it was because this game single handedly shows what the next gen HD systems were capable of, pushing the gaming envelope to new extremes, and they are right. It deserved its score.

Someone explain this to me, the PS3 version GTA IV has 22 perfect scores, and 7more at 98 percent or better, then a 97 a 96 and a 95.

Zelda has 18 perfect scores, a 98 a 95 a 94 and a 90, but according to meta critic it is still the number one rated game of all time.

I think the XBOX360 scores are basically the same in being higher and in greater numbers. Hows that work exactly?

I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

This space Reserved for the Nuggets of Wisdom dropped by Bladeforce:

"Why post something like this when all it will get is PS3 owners blinded to reality replying? BOTH THE PS3 AND BLUE-RAY WILL NOT LAST 3 YEARS! TECHNOLOGY CHANGED TOO FAST!"

"is it Wii FIt that has sold as many as PS3's sold? Thats a LOL Look at the total sales of software is it just me that sees Nintendo titles hitting 10m+ and you say they arent making a difference? Another LOL!"

"Hell, with all the negative hype Sony spin, people just aren't interested cost is too high and to get the true HD experience (1080p, 7.1 surround) you will need a $1000+ system. THAT IS GOING TO DO IT IN A RECESSION! PS4 will not happen"

Lot's of people do this. It's not really laziness, they put the review score front and center. In my case if the review score matches what I expect the game to get I might not read the review because I'm not too interested. If the review score is unique (too low or high for my expectations) then I'll read the review to find out why. A 10 for GTA4 is unique, I'm sure it got a lot of people's attention... well that's obvious.

As for this thread... I think we've covered a lot of this already...

It doesn't really matter, because no game should have over 90% on Metacritic. Therefore, the best game ever is at 89.9%, right?

So by simple logic, one can see that Melee is the best game ever created.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

@Emmi: they both have certain sites and publications that they trust that they put toward the average score. That's why scores are slightly different for a game on both sites.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
