On the homepage for VGChartz, when I saw some Blast From The Past sales, I started thinking. At some points in time, GameBoy and SNES games were the only thing in the top 5. Week after week, in different years, Nintendo games were always in the Top 5. So I wonder, what did they do with that cash? I know they didn't completely take the charts (Genesis, Game Gear), but I want to know if they might've made deals or something that cost a lot. As for what they could've bought I come up with these things: Development of future systems (GBC, N64) Paying for production of Ninty shows *shudder* and merchandise Personal Helicopters Fighting Piracy Supplying funds for the Legion of Nintendo cult, which haunts our streets unknowingly and kills innocents through mushroom poisoning. But seriously, what went down in Chinatown, I mean Japantown, in the 90s?

i just hope that ninendo gives the people in the sweat shops where thay make the wiis a decent liveing......if not then that is just sad allt he $$$ thay are makeing and not give em a decent wage is sad


....im not saying thay use sweatshops but if its made in china i think that sum kids built the wii for your kids too play the wii.....lol :D

the ps3 is made in both china and japan

im not sure if the wii and 360 are also made in china any idea guys? there was a few pictres of wiis int he factory and im sure that all the people working there wer chinese

Hate to break it to you justforreggs, but EVERYTHING is made in China now...even the things that aren't.

Cars, trees, computers, dreams, babies, love, sunlight, all of these things are mass produced in China for literally pennies on the dollar. So the next time you smell a flower and think to thank photosynthesis for it, why not thank the four year old Chinese boy who actually made the energy for the flower.

And maybe send him some food, he is probably hungry.

Last I heard, all three consoles were assembled in China, and by the same contractor, no less. Foxxcon.

As to the labour practices of Nintendo's myriad of suppliers, well, I'm not sure how much control they have over that.

That was Japan only anyways. Europe was a completely different story as Sega dominated there and in North America sega genesis sold more software than Super Nintendo from 1991 to 1995.

They have stock dividends so a fair bit of profit goes to that.

Yeah I can't remember why, but something once went wrong which made Yamauchi conservative to the point where he thought the company should always have at least $5billion in reserve just in case, because if they went bankrupt he wanted to be able to pay his shareholders or something. It's an honour thing I suppose, if Nintendo make a mistake they don't want the consequences passed onto other people.

If anyone has a more detailed version with fewer "or somethings" I would appreciate it. Edit, what are dividends?
