well, it would be cool to use it to phone through the wii over the net using Voip... but tbh it would be better to release a Wii headset for that. Only time will tell if this is really gonna be made and what itll do, but it looks kinda funky (even though its got a pretty small screen if u ask me).

All it really needs to be is a Wiimote + better speaker, mic & number entry. A small number display might work well.

Would it actually function as a Wiimote as well? (pointer cap, etc..).

This is one serious advantage of WiiConnect 24 - if its done properly. It would allow people to receive calls when their Wii is in standby mode (neither the 360 or PS3 can do this).

Anyway, it could be just as easily a complete fake. Lets wait until E3 or some related announcement before assuming too much.
