The first game was actually on an oscilloscope no? (yes a tennis)

Sony's game studios make really good games (at or near the top in publisher rankings by various metrics).
Playstation platforms afford other devs the ability to innovate.
LOL, did some mod put those edits in the OP, or did the OP just end up w/ egg on his face repeatedly.
Talk of innovation is kinda BS anyway: each company wants to make money. Nintendo "innovated" with the controller so they could avoid getting crushed because of weaker hardware. It was a way to make money. It took some balls, but it was a business move.
2 of the 3 companies' business moves have made them profits...1 of the companies' game divisions is still way, way, in the hole...
I stopped at the home button. PSP came before 360.

I remember SEGA's graphic whoring days, which was complete BS but still, and I've seen the old Atari commercials talking about that, I mean the "visuals" were supposed to appeal to kid... and now they're a huge point to "mature" gamers haha... just funny how that works out >_>
And IR was done by the Brown Box before Atari, which that man never gets the credit he deserved, till he sued over his video game patent that even now every game maker has to pay to use.
OT: The OP has some point's but if you want to get down to it Nintendo had DLC and internet on the Famicom, they made a zelda game that downloaded a part each day off the internet. Then Motion sensing has been around for ages but the Wii remote is the first time it's been so extensive to where you could base a console around it. Then CD based games were back in the SEGA CD days (Sonic CD still rules all Sonic games), personally the OP should say everyone copies everyone but some impliment it better and some aren't just a flat out copy or a worse rip-off like Sony has done in the past, Sony did better with CD based tech, the dual analog is them but they implimented it poorly, MS with the 360 controller has done it much better as 2 analog sticks next to each other just feels kinda weird IMO. Sony has just done a lot of obvious rip-offs that people notice they never think of until someone else makes a good version, but this is all due to Sony game plan, they want to be everyones console and that means having everything everyone else has but try to make something more which doesn't work all the time. Either way the first consoles like Atari, Brown Box, and NES were the real innovators and today it's just the build up of all that work in years past.

I'll agree with what Kas said, I think they're an amazing sale's tool, but innovative in the least bit? Hell no. They don't do anything, I give so much more credit to developers like Naughty Dog and Insomniac that reward you for your effort, that should be in the hands of the developers to sell they're game, not "achievements" -_-; |
Hey, don't knock sales tools innovation. After all this is a sales site. I'm just waiting for 360 to start breaking out more achievement points for their big games. I'm surprised they haven't done it yet. Make some big games.... or some of their new IPs that they want to push have 1.5 or even double the achievement points.

What about the eye toy for PS2? Who is to say that Nintendo didn't take this idea for the Wii. Afterall the Eyetoy did involve various motions with the arms similar to the ideal premise with some of the Wii's games.

Nintendo stated they wanted to do motion sensing for GC back in 2001 but the technology and price wasn't possible.
The rEVOLution is not being televised
people overate all 3 companies when it comes to innovation its usaully just a bunch of small steps forward these days, but nintendo is doing a lot more than the other 2.
also Microsoft didn't copy the dream cast with online since they developed it together (look on the side of a dream cast and u will see the Microsoft label) and Microsoft invested in it and for console online Microsoft has easily done way more than sony
non of them even come up with these technologies they just market them
I'm sorry but I need more evidence for all 5, I want solid proof not just the fiction you claim as fact.
