Montana, I'm not aware of Gamefaqs missing NA release dates to any unusual degree. On Gamefaqs, older games often have only the year of release for NA, but newer releases almost always have the dates.

About Gamefly, I just went there and did a search for "BurgerTime" and "Burger Time", which had no results. If I'm not mistaken, that is a rental site(only newer stuff I assume). We need sources that cover games from the old days up until today. I'm fine just using Gamefaqs and Gamestats, but want to know of other viable alternatives if there are any.

About the list idea, it's something I've considered before. Not so much a "trust" list, but a "do not trust" list. Most of the bad submissions seem to be spur of the moment things from people who don't really take part in the DB. Still, I wouldn't put people on the list just for goofing up, only folks who don't seem to care about their submissions even after we give them a nice PM explaining things. For instance, if a person can't be bothered to capitalize a game title, they don't need to be submitting games in the first place.

I forgot the site, I'm just too lazy to find my old sticky.

And Gamefaqs is missing several North American release dates for retro games. Whether they be on the NES, Gameboy/GameGear, or even back to the Atari days. It's tough stuff.

Since we are going to be hearing more on the game summaries soon, should we stop adding them for the time being. I still have 30 summaries that i uploaded and they have not been excepted, or were they declined or are you just not excepting them. They were all updated with Amazon, but if you guys want people to use other sites now thats fine. I'll start adding screenshots or something now.

I aint contributing until we get the amiga, c64 and zx spectrum home computers added.

I added RE0 for the wii a month ago and its still not in the DB

I must confess I have added game summaries straight from Wikipedia. I'll try sprucing them up with a more custom feel next time. I just really need the extra VG dollars right now.......(j/k)

Three Xbox Live Arcade game complaints:

-Contra (XBL) is not in the game database, yet it can't be added because "This game is already in the database".

-Assault Heros (XBL) is misspelled, it needs to be changed to Assault Heroes.

-Rocketmen: It Came from Your Uranus (XBL) was approved as a separate game when I'm almost certain it's just an expansion pack for Rocketmen: Axis of Evil.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

@sinha

- Contra: it could just be waiting for mod approval. The list works like in a last in first out order. So when they go through the list, the most recent requests are performed. It is quite possible that Contra is stuck at the end of the list, and until they catch up completely won't get added to the database.

- Assault Heros (XBL): They can't rename games yet, so just leave it as is. Your best bet (if you really care about the DB) is to save it in a file (text, excel or whatever) and pm a game admin once they gain the ability to change game names.

- I'm assuming that that is fine. I see no reason not to include expansions under the database. There is no category in the DB for expansions vs full games.

Ha, I love you Contributors. You guys are reliable and hard working. Most of the stupid and/or crappy submissions are from people completely new to the site with no idea of anything. I think we may have to create a list of people who we can trust, and those we actually have to check their data on.

As for Gamefaqs, it seems to be missing a lot of North American release dates for a lot of games, which really annoys me. IGN has a lot of fake release dates too, and Gamespot has pretty much the same information as Gamefaqs. I think Gamefly has good info, although I'm not sure about hat.

Thanks for all the work contributors! You guys are a blessing.
you are welcome Montana, The database is pretty addictive... and is fun!!

Nothing wrong with it, but many games have tons of expansion packs, that would be really messy if they were all treated as separate games.  Just Lumines Live alone has like ten expansions.

If expansion packs for little $10 games are going to be added, what about map packs for games like Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3?

I would like the following added somewhere on the game page

System Requirements
Save Memory Amount (blocks/MB)
Optional Installs Amount (blocks/MB)
Mandatory Installs Amount (blocks/MB)
Number of players
Internet Enabled
Controllers Supported (this one would be the toughest to implement, and mostly for the Wii)

I don't really care to much about the descriptions. I mostly fill them out because I like the pages to look lively and full of information
