In order to pull something like a 50% off at this point the PS3 and Xbox360 would have to be crippled a bit on their growth, remember both systems year over year are increasing in sales also.
The only way for the Wii to hit 50% so soon is to hurt their growth to the point where PS3 is racking in about 5~7 million in 9~12 months roughly the same with the 360 and the Wii would have to sell through its 2.3 million a month which is roughly 25 million Wii's.
The only way to pull something like that off is for Nintendo to find another market or to step into the Ps360 market, in other words give people who are looking at the PS360 a feasable Wii option, how I don't know...
If what Reggie said holds any water by E3 Nintendo of America should be going in direct competition with the PS360 or at least move towards an attempt to please the more avid gamer. It may hurt the PS360 about 2 million a year each but again it all depends on if Wii's can stay in stock.
I'm not sure if 2.3 is quite enough - which is funny because in that prediction by Lucas the difference between what he was thinking and the numbers then were exactly 2.3 million, maybe he is psychic XD. Maybe 2009 will be Wii's peak year?
I'm Unamerica and you can too.
