Forums - Gaming - Nintendo E3 Rumors

It could be 100 things... but here is my guess:

A new handheld ("GameBoy Cubed"?) - the long rumoured handheld that will play GC games. Disc based, if its true - hopefully will play GC discs directly. If true, it would kill the PSP forever.

They won't announce anything that will directly impact the DS or Wii....unless.. it IS the new model of the DS (still DS compatible - not a DS II) - the DS Deluxe (DSD).

 - digital distribution support (say 4Gig of flash mem built-in)
 - much better online support (Pictochat over WiFi)
 - download/purchase full titles over WiFi

..yadda, yadda.

The crazy things about those rumors that were posted last week, is that they make a lot of sense. If anyone here has heard last weeks IGN podcast, Matt talked about a secret Nintendo project that appealed to the hardcore. That project could perfectly be Vision Red. Mario Kart is a no-brainer, it is normally released about 2 years after launch. I think we should expect a new Kid Icarus game obviously, his inclusion in smash would be an excellent advertisement. That hardware could be a hard-drive to put in the USB ports?

It could be, but then I'd consider "Big hardware news" to be a lie.

It would be just like Nintendo to give us a sneak peek of something *really* new...

diegomoroco777, Kid Icarus would be a good bet, then again mature Link was on Smash Bros in 2001 but didn't make into his own Zelda adventure until 2006 when Twilight Princess was released. Instead we got cartoon Link in Wind Waker. On the other hand, a cel shaded Kid Icarus for Wii I would love.

Are PSP discs smaller than GC discs? If so, how much?

Edit
Found it myself. UMDs are 6.5 cm across, GC discs 8 cm. Seems a little too big for a handheld. I don't believe in that idea.

Have you seen the size of the booths on the show floor chunk? I don't think there is much room for interactive units there... i'm assuming it's invite at a time an each media rep gets an amount of time on a certain day rather than a full show like it has been in the last years... Gone are the booth babes, the glitz and the glamour and its more about the product now...

E3 isn't for the public anymore, so it doesn't matter. Nintendo could easily show something (like the Wii was shown in 2005), but not have it playable.

This is about what is shown at the conference - and I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo did something to hurt the PSP. Then again, it could be anything. A Wii with hdisk would rock - but I'd be annoyed, as I would have to upgrade. A USB attachment would make much more sense.

Nintendo won't use hard drives. They will go with more flash RAM, like 32 or 64 GB, when prices are low enough.

Great thing about the Wii is that they can make the accessories as powerful as they like, and it would all be great ideas. Mainly because with the PS3 you are forced to pay for 50 different gizmos when you only use 2 of them. Allowing people to chose the ones they want would be a great idea IMO.
