If the game is good, they will probably let someone else port it over.
According to the actual interview, they just don't have the resources to spread around like that so they concentrate on what they know will do well for them and that's PC/X360. They did say it's still possible to have a PS3 version come along and they've also stated they want to work on Wii (stated in 2007 and again last week) so they arent' leaving anything out directly, they just aren't big enough for multi-game development.

Not really, just the opening post doesn't make it look like they aren't putting the game on the PS3 because they aren't sure how successful it will be and that there's still a chance it will come to the PS3.
Personally, I wouldn't buy this game for the PS3 and not even for the 360. PC is about the only way to go for Valve games with me.

Fixed that for you.

Not at all-- I don't care enough about the differences to keep my PC up to date. For things like TF2, Left4Dead, or any Valve game really, I want to play it on the PC but not so much other games.
I know my work PC can handle Left4Dead and I'm sure my home laptop can handle it on low settings but for the most part I don't care enough to keep a PC up to date enough that can run things like Gears, Bioshock, Mass Effect, or whatever the newest game is that will need the uber setup that I could just as easily play on the 360 or PS3.
Doug Lombardi needs to lose weight?
So he can die of starvation? The guy is a twig...
Anyway, Valve is a small company. They pick their battles. They aren't a 360 developer either. They handed that port over to EA hehe. If you want to play Valve games, get a half-decent PC. Seriously, you can build a PC that's easily capable of playing all multiplats better than the consoles for $400. Go do it and stop complaining.

Because Valve doesn't know how to use the SPEs on the Cell. (see Orange Box....they didn't even bother.)
"Don't have the resources..."? Yeah, fair enough. Must be way tougher on you if your "philosophical" objection to Cell's assymetry keeps you from wanting to develop for it. Whatever.

He obviously confused Doug and Gabe. Grant it, half the things they say make Kutaragi's 4D speech sound normal.

Please, it takes very little maintenence to keep a PC playing multi-plat games. A new graphics card every couple years is more than enough to keep a PC running for an entire console generation. Multi-plats don't go up in System Reqs with time. Mass Effect has less system reqs than Bioshock.
