All right, so I've been looking around on Metacritic (a site that compiles online reviews from gaming outlets and combines their reviews for a total score) and I noticed that for both the PSP and the DS that their isn't many highly praised games. The PSP has one game ranked above 90 and the DS has three games at or above 90 out of 100.

There are a lot of handheld games that got a lot of hype and you'd expect them to have great reviews across the board, but it seems they didn't. For example God of War for the PSP only has a 91 out of 100. On the DS Mario Kart has a 91 and Phantom Hour Glass in only pushing a 90. It just seems like the console games are getting higher praise on every level.

I just feel like there is a game out there on the PSP and the DS that is worth upper 90s, especially when you look at the console games that recieve that praise.

I guess I'm not surprised by the lack of games that score above 90, I'm just surprised that there is no games ranked above 91 at all.

Do you think that the gaming outlets are comparing these games to their console parts too much when it comes to scoring? 

Obviously they are different games and will have a different feeling.

Also if you check out Metacritic.com is there any games on there that you feel deserve to be that AAA title?

I'm not really sure why either, maybe because your looking at metacritic. Handheld games usually aren't as "immersive" or "photorealistic" as the console games. Their just not *pushes glasses up and snorts* adult-hardcore.

As an owner of both PSP and DS, I can say that those reviews are pretty fair in most part.

Unless you can actually name me a game that deserves more points, I recommend you to actually play the game first.

Way Handheld games doesn't score as high? Handheld games have smaller budget.

scores are based on how much it cost to make, nowadays.

1. In many cases, a handheld game has a superior console cousin for reviewers to look at in comparison.

2. As sad as it sounds, graphics.

Now that is a goood game, I don't even have to play it to know it's a good game cause it's that good.

Honestly most hand held games just arent eye catchers or attention keepers.

If their looking for Epic in a hand held then their retarded, it's never been that way, but whatever.

Handhelds have always gotten the shaft; it's just the way it works. I just add around .5 to the score to get a fair estimate of a handheld score.
