Well I suppose since you have it on 360 you may not have the option to (I have no idea), but I changed the controls to "Classic" as soon as I began playing. Sorts the problem out entirely.

Really I don't know why it's suddenly in vogue to use the triggers as default controls in driving games at the moment. I've been using X and square for every game with a vehicle in since the days of the PlayStation and I'm not changing now.

The driving controls are actually pretty decent despite the ridiculous suspension roll on all cars. You just have to learn to manage your speed instead of flooring it all the time and spinning out. You need to hit the brakes before a turn, not during it - just like in real life!

It can take a few hours to adjust and get comfortable with the changes.
