Forums - Gaming - PS3 version of GTA 4 confirmed 720p, and 640p rumor came from a post

Yep, it seems that like I said, the "CONFIRMATION FOR 640P PS3 GAME" came from a guy on some forum that owned the 360 version of the game, and called it the inferior one because he thinks it will be 640p.

Everyone saw this as a fact.

Quaz51 said the PS3 one looked better from what i remember.

I love how people take a post from a forum, and formulate a whole argument about it... And then be wrong. It makes my day.

Wait, I am looking at the news in gamesradar and I can't find such a thing, can you give the link?

Honestly, I can never understand why people make such a big fuss over something so trivial as screen resolution. If it plays good and looks great, isn't that all that matters? Especially if you can't spot the difference without consulting the developers who made the game?

If anyone is actually seriously bashing a great looking game A just because there are a few thousand pixels less on the screen than with game B, they're missing the forest for the trees.

They obviously don't understand what the guys at Beyond3D are doing when they check the rendered resolution of the game. It sounds like they think the output is the rendered resolution, and we all know the output is 720p. The rendered resolution, however, is 640p.

I don't have to remind anyone here that the techniques used at beyond3d, aside from being very simple and easy to understand, have been proven to work in the past. They also discovered that Halo 3 wasn't rendering in an HD resolution, which Bungee promptly admitted and downplayed.

Beyond3D hasn't been wrong yet.

Leo-J: Do you seriously expect us to believe a writer at gamesradar who obviously didn't take the time to understand how the rendered resolution is determined instead of someone who has been right every time he's done this?

Quaz51 is the furtherst thing in the world from a console fanboy. Honestly, he has been right far too many times about various games for some random article from gameradar to make me doubt him. Of course I could not give 2 shits less about game resolution. I only care how the game looks to me, and rarely does resolution come into play there. Most people will view this differently I imagine.

 Thanks.

"We captured the raw video in uncompressed 720p, with no post-processing to either stream"  does not mean that the original stream were 720p it means they recorded it in 720p. Considering Quaz was also the guy that showed that Halo was 630p I doubt calling him a fanboy would be smart.
I think we should all wait for Rockstar to say something about it.

And to all those that think we are bashing the game, we are not! The Wii owners always say that HD and etc are not important as long as the graphics look good enough. The PS3 fans were the ones that always say that the Wii can't output HD so .... So basicly we find it ironic for ps3 fans to say it looks good enough. And forget about upscalling that is a seperate issue.

So this means PS3 GTA IV isn't the same resolution as Halo 3, but the higher and more advanced 720p?

Or doesn't it? LOL.
