Forums - Gaming - I have played both versions of GTAIV and the best version is...

The 360 version IMHO. It is superior to the PS3 version, but only slightly.

It is little things such as the controls that are slightly easier to handle.  Also I don't know if it is just me or have other people found that the graphics are ever so slightly better on the 360? (Of course this could be down to the TV I played it on)

Anyway, that's my two cents.

BTW, I have yet to check out how it plays online or the extras etc...

My buddy just got a sweet Toshbia 52" LCD.  They don't sell this particular model at Best Buy, becuase it's kind of a botique TV (too high end for best buy).  He also recently got a PS3 to compliment his 360 -- he's on his third, by the way.  Before I bought my 360, I talked to him for a while about which system he'd recommend, and he said that games generally just played better on the 360.  Framerates were often better (he claimed this was the case with CoD4 -- he also pointed out that Ratchet & Clank had low framerate in some areas), and colors almost always looked better for cross platform games.  Plus, there weren't enough good exclusives for the PS3.

It's funny because I was leaning toward the PS3, and I hate the 360 reliability problems which are absolutely still an issue with the Falcon models (many more people with Falcon models reported failures over the weekend in the SA forums), but I got a 360 anyway.

For the 360 version, we use the Right Trigger button for firing weapons. Pressing this halfway brings out your weapon into zoom view and prepares it for firing, and pressing it down fires the weapon. I found this very useful for waiting for enemies to pop out.

As I understand it, the PS3 controller uses the R2 for firing, but Im guessing this doesnt allow you to press it halfway or am I wrong here? How do you do free aim and zoom view without firing?

I'm not too familiar with the controls yet, but the R2 button is pressure sensitive, so you could press it only halfway down for some effect. It's also used as the accelerator when in a vehicle, which is variable.
