I got my hopes up... and then had them dashed the moment I saw it was THQ.

Ring me when a developer that doesn't suck takes interest in the Wii.

You're assuming that the shovelware teams will be doing this. There are some quality teams at THQ. They may not be up to par with the quality teams of other developers, but the fact is that they are making an effort with the Wii, which is more than a lot of developers can say.

Like what? Their biggest title (that I've played) was Titan's Quest and that game was craptacular. It was a clone of D2 that failed to do anything other than be stunningly mediocre.

You're basing the talents of the developers on your subjective opinion of just a few games? That's just being as close minded as the fanboys.

Is it me or only japanese publishers like Capcom, SEGA and Namco knows whats happening right now? I mean, have you even know a news about them making ports and shovelwares and making it exclusive like what western developers did? Okami was a port but it is a good port and no one knows this game before when it released in PS2 anyway...

These publishers knows there'll be a gaming shift happening, western developers dont. I mean asides from Bionic commando and Resident Evil 5 I never known a news about Capcom developing a HD console game.

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

Holy fucking shit at the whiners.
What the title of the thread mean is that finally a publisher talk with wisdom of the Wii nature.
Wii userbase is highly diversified, it's not composed only of soccer mom or children.
A publisher should diversified it's Wii offering and target different segment with appropriated marketing.
The Wii need new IPs and new IPs on Wii are calculated risk because development cost are relative low and with the right concept ( and marketing ) a new IP could become the new Megaman 2, Castlevania, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy etc.
The Wii is ready to accept disruptive software !

You're right. It's composed of both. And the elderly.

Wow, I wonder if they are trying to promote Deadly Creatures? They only mentioned it 6 times.

Well you'd think developers don't normally do that, promoting their major works.

It's amazing how quickly company opinions turn around when they smell cash.

On the plus side, it's great to hear a publisher not say "CHEAP MINIGAMEZ=TONZ OF CASH!"

A cheerleader game, huh? Verrrry interesting to see how it goes.

Nintendo can provide games like Mario Kart, Smash Bros., Wii Fit -- all of which are going to be mega-hits -- but the well dried up eventually on GameCube.

*headdesk*

No, it dried up because the Gamecube did everything the PS2 did.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

At any rate, it's great to hear Publishers are thinking about making games designed for the Wii, instead of shoehorning games designed for the X360/PS3 onto the Wii.

It's why "mature" games and "AAA" games would fail on the Wii. The values the Wii promotes are too different.
