that number is ungodly for console sales- never been done on a sustained basis -ever.

@Lenardo1: I think the PS2 managed a little more than 400k a week during 2002. Here's a link. Divide that by 52, and it comes to 403k or something. So it has been done before. But it still is a lot, especially since that was during the PS2's peak year, its third year. The Wii is still going in year two, so next year could really be amazing, if the Wii follows the pattern of higher sales in the third year, which I expect that year (2009) to be the Wii's peak year.

Now if I could only win (or steal) a billion dollars, I'd be set.

@Stever89 -- you're including the PS2's massive holiday sales in that number though. It's non-holiday average was much lower, more like 275k a week.

Well yeah, I guess I should have mentioned that. I guess we can expect this years Wii average to be much higher than that. For reference, Wii's 2007 weekly average was 314k.

Until Nintendo increases production, then yes. 300k-400k per week.

the ps2 did have a short ~month long stretch of 3 to 400 thousand but sustained average is much lower during that year.

the wii has been doing the 300-400k range since october sure it fluctuates greatly, but beginning last october the number is over 300k ALOT

week ending jan 5 thru last week the wii is AVERAGING 325 thousand units a week world wide(317 if you exclude the week ending jan 5), and hasn't dropped under 200 thousand once.

in Comparison the Xbox 360 is Averaging- in the same time frame ~130-140 thousand a week and has been over 200k Once

the ps3 is averaging ~180-190 thousand a week- and has been over 200k twice

The Wii is gonna blow through 30 million like MC Hammer by Septemba. Assuming this 300k-400k a week thing remains constant.
