All in all, it’s tough to put a paw on anything that would really make Puppy Luv worth your while. It is currently one of the only ways to have a virtual pet experience on the Wii, but even with that relative lack of competition it’s still a tough sell because of its lack of features, its lifeless, repetitive presentation and its frustrating implementation of Wiimote motion control. Your best bet, if you’re a virtual pet fan, is to stick with the far better fare available on the DS for now – and hope that Nintendo decides to expand their excellent portable Nintendogs franchise to its home console sometime in the future.

IGN Ratings for Puppy Luv: Your New Best Friend (Wii)
Rating Description
out of 10
4.0 Presentation
A bare-bones approach, with no intro sequence or opening tutorial. You’re just quickly given a dog staring straight at you, and a handful of icons to click.
6.0 Graphics
The representations of digital dogs here are fair, but lifeless. The same canned animations trigger every time you throw a Frisbee or ball.
5.5 Sound
The most notable audio aspect is the voice-over narrator girl, whose soothing words of encouragement are calming … until they start to repeat again and again.
3.0 Gameplay
There’s not a lot to do in Puppy Luv, and what little there is is marred by frustratingly unresponsive motion recognition.
5.0 Lasting Appeal
Virtual pet games are meant to be built to last, and Puppy Luv attempts some depth with costume choices and the like. It still won’t hold any player’s interest long, though.
3.5
Bad

WHEN WILL THIS END??

The problem is as much to do with the review process, as it is with the games.

Depending who you ask, WiiSports is a "perfect 10", and far above GTA4 for instance. But this won't come from any of the major review sites.

In the end, sales figures are what really count.

Is it a good thing to show that a company has to spend $100m on development to make a 'successful' game - or that success can be had with a fraction of that ($3m-$5m), for say - Carnival Games?

This article is retarded. It almost feel like a joke article. A lot of dishonest arguments (like those NMH flopped threads we had). I do not even feel like pointing them out. Maybe later, I need some sleep.

So shovleware is good thing or a bad thing? Well mini games compilations such as carnival games was good, and Disney's High School Musical was in 750, 000 sales so far. So why need to stop shovelwares then? Even Mario and Sonic is considered a shovelware

I think shovelware is a no-win proposition: If a system has shovelware, it means the quality of the system's library is being diluted.  If a system doesn't have shovelware, it means the system is in such dire straits that even the worst developers won't touch it.  Either way, it comes down to how the individual wants to spin it.  Personally, though, I believe that the prevalence of shovelware is a positive indicator (though not necessarily a good thing in itself), as the best systems have always received the lion's share of shovelware in addition to the finest games.

So how shovelwares will be stop then, even most of the PS2 games are shovelwares too so we cant just stop these shovelwares from spreading. What I dont get is even with these shovelwares people still buying it.

''Hadouken!''

Wii Sports was free though, so as Wii play. Because of the controller but mini games with retail price to it NOW theres a problem like carnival games and EA Playground. Though Wariware was good.

it's also less atractive for developers who spend much time on their games, cause they know much of the audience won't even try or recogize the quality of their games in that melee of titles..

Atleast Im buying Legend of Zelda: TP right now, is it good? :P

Well if sales were directly proportional to the budget of a game, then this wouldn't be an issue.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
