I know it's old, but how? and more importantly, why?

Doesn't this conflict with the console wars at all?

THQ is publishing the game.

THQ may be publishing it. But isn't Viva Pinata a Microsoft(Rare) franchise? Maybe MS wants to cash in on the DS success and be a third party developer instead of making a handheld themselves lol. I vote for Halo DS!

MS would prefer it if the DS beat the PSP as they wish to attack Sony who they believe may be a threat to their monopoly.

YES! THAT DID SHOCK ME!!! Oh dam, a sequel coming to the DS and not the 360? Thats just bizarre.

Why is it so shocking that Rare would work on the DS? Have you not heard of this Rare developed game?

How?  MS has a history of putting its games on the DS.  It has happened before and will happen again.  This should in no way shock anyone.  Have you ever heard of Ages of Empires?  It's also on DS.

As a second comment on this thread, i'd like to point out this; Microsoft putting games on the DS does conflict with the console wars. You see, someone is going to play Blue Dragon on DS or Viva Pinata on DS and then possibly find out there are console versions too, if they didn't know already. Now guess what console they would need to buy to play them on.
