On CNN and other news channels talk about Rockstar's new game, GTAIV has been all the rave. One interesting issue the bring up is the fact that Rockstar said they wouldn't consider EA's offer to buy them out until after this game was released. One News Anchor suggested that perhaps Rockstar was hoping the success of this game would drive up EA's offer.

So after Rockstar what's up next? Ubisoft?

I guess everyone is either too busy shooting mexican gang bangers in a simulated city or arguing whether the PS3 or 360 version is better to care about this miniscule unimportant issue.

That's right children pay no attention to the dark rain clouds billowing over the horizon.

Honestly I' am hoping that the game sales well enough that Take 2 can avoid "assimulating" altogether. I know i am pry wrong, but i hope thats the plan. EA imo is ruining gaming. When i think of EA i think of them as a slave laborer working programers like in a sweatshop to create games in what seems like less then a year. Look how bad sports games are becoming without competition because of EA taking over the competition.

We'd all like to hope that EA's assimilation of Western developers would come to a halt, but I too don't see that happening.

I can't help but think they're gearing up to release their own console this next gen.

I don't get why people hate EA so much, but then turn around and love a company like Nintendo or Sony during the PS2 era. It doesn't make sense to me.

Sony and nintendo didn't really gobble everything up like EA and make the dish out games left and right. That's why ea pretty much has most the market. Get rid of competition, don't have to put as much effort into it.

 Because although Sony has had its moments of arrogance and Nintendo its moments of utter arseholery neither of them went out and systematically destroyed developers. 

Seriously, we are seeing a genocide of western studios because of large companies, that being mostly EA, assimilating small talented devs and raping them until they bleed dry.

and the fact that after about a 2 year period bettween need for speed 4 and need for speed 5 there has been a new one every like 6months or something is rediculous.


Same with tony hawks its been milked to death.

EA needs to reinvent its games. if they buy Rockstar I guranteee a gta game every 6months or at least addons. or side stories.

Releasing one killer game can turn T2's fortunes around momentarily, but ... it's only gonna lead to more hurt eventually. EA is a beast, and T2 will likely cave.

As far as why people hate EA, they will riding their trick pony every year with no new tricks. Take Need for Speed. It was a good series, but now? It's a laughingstock. It's the same crap rebundled over and over again. Look at Madden. They have the money and instead of using it to make cool innovations, they release the same crap because ... people will buy it.

It's ironic that T2 was the only company that gave EA a run for their money, NFL wise, until EA bought the NFL license and shut them down. T2 did have the better NFL game every year for a while.

Or maybe people don't care.  Maybe it's going to happen, maybe not.  We can't stop that.  All we can do is play the awesomeness that is GTAIV. 

This thread feels like a shoddy attempt to throw some salt in GTAIV's game, since it's getting reviewed so high, and you, a known Wii Fan and PS360 hater can't stand that it will take down Zelda: OoT as the best game Evar...  But I could be wrong, matter of fact, I probably am.
