Why would they port a game from the PS1 game to the PS3, when it's fully b/c?

?

This is part of the problem.

Wii owners are far too happy to accept remakes of games and will buy them in droves, so developers don't have to try hard to get a game to sell.

People have just stated that they'd buy the game, just for the IR controls. So the developer can slap on some new controls, and it'll be a guaranteed seller. Why try hard to innovate, or change, when people will buy it either way? So the same people crying about Rock Band being a PS2 port only have themselves to blame, by buying games, simply because they're on the Wii, because it'd 'control better' (not in the case of RockBand, but you know what I mean).

Some people view it as a problem. I just like good games, and I don't particularly care if they've been good on other platforms in the past. I've never complained when a good port like Godfather, Okami, or Bully comes to Wii. Heck, I don't even care about the missing features in Rock Band Wii. The reasons why I won't buy that game are intrinsic to the title and have nothing to do with online or customizable avatars.

I know that the new and original games will come anyway. These games are just quick and inexpensive ways to get good games into the Wii library, and I appreciate that. You'd have to be a pretty foolish executive to think that ports and remakes will be enough to satisfy all Wii owners for the duration of the console's life.

I understand,

But the same complainers of lack of Third Party innovation and all that good stuff fail to see that buying games with IR because it "controls better" is simply making the problem worse.

I guess that was to me.

Again, different.  An eleven year old game getting a REMAKE vs. a six, four, and eight month old game getting ported to the Wii for IR support.

Are you suggesting that the older MP's would not recieve a graphical upgrade/more or different enemies/bonus content in addition to the inclusion of IR support?

Alright, to break it down for you DmeisterJ, this is what happened.

1.We were talking about a rumor that the MP trilogy would be re-released as a single package with redone controls.

2. We said we would buy such a 3 in 1 package, that it's a good deal, some people may not have played all 3, and for 50 bucks getting all 3 redone would be awesome.

3.Enter DmeisterJ "Why would they port a game from the Gamecube game to the Wii, when it's fully b/c?I guess the question is, would Wii owners pay money just for motion controls with Prime 1 and 2. I just don't see the reason in it." FIGHT

4. People re-iterate that it would be a good value to buy all 3 games in 1 package, many may have missed it the first time, many wii owners didn't own a GC, plus it would be cool to play it with IR.

5. Response? "This is part of the problem.

All but 1 part of the argument is ignored. Who cares if it would be 3 games in 1, many may not have played it or had a GC, ect ect? Wii owners are stupid will buy anything with waggle, 3rd parties don't have to try, you only have yourself to blame for crappy blah blah blah.

6. Argument continues based only on that criteria, when the whole thing is made moot by previous facts set forth.

By ignoring valid points and only arguing that which can be contested, and doing so in a dramatic way, you manage to draw out the argument to a battleground and topic you can fight, when initially your whole argument had no water. I would say it's clever, but I doubt it was intentional, so much as usual trolling gut instinct.

Nobody has tried it (show me an HD remake that failed), that doesn't make the point less valid. If somebody made it, it would sell, you haven't even tried to argue that it wouldn't.

Look, you're just trolling, creating a criteria that no matter what happens you have something to complain about. Wii games sell, it's because wii gamers are stupid. If wii games don't sell, it's because wii gamers aren't gamers. As much as I love kittens, if I see yours in a wii topic I'm certain that adorable face is going to be looking for a fight.
I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but as an example of an HD-remake flop, Ninja Gaiden Sigma for PS3. Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is coming out soon also, and I don't have high hopes of it selling well. Most of the early 360 down and dirty ports of PS2/XBox multiplats didn't do too well either. Bully did ok considering it's original PS2 sales but didn't really do that well in general terms.

Is the Metroid trilogy a remake or just port?

Also, the last game obviously wouldn't be a remake or a port... since it's already a Wii game.

But I bet there would be a good amount of people who would like a Metroid 1+2 that uses IR instead of regular controls. I never played the first two games (and have no intention to), simply because I have a great dislike of regular controllers. I did play Metroid Prime 3, and enjoyed it enough that I would be willing to pay $20-30 for a Metroid Prime 1/2 remake/port with IR pointers (though I probably wouldn't pay $50 for all three, since I already own the 3rd one).

I think you're making too big of deal about this.

I would so buy that. I would own MP1 and MP2 but I played them at a friends and hated the control scheme.

Not if RE4 Wii Edition is anything to go by.

@ Stever

It's no big deal, I just want people to understand that they're the reason why this happens, because people are all too happy to purchase a game with minor graphical upgrades, and IR support for 'better controls', then complain when developers don't put enough oomph into making a game for the Wii.

I agree it's good for people like you who don't like 'traditional controls', but it is that reason that will result in this happening more and more.
