Forums - Nintendo - Rumor: Metroid Prime Trilogy to be Released for Wii

The fact remains, slap HD on it and suddenly something old becomes appealing. And yes, obviously I'm speculating on GoWHD, I outright made up it's existence. And I didn't even make an assertion, I asked a question. Now the assertion, you can bet it would generate a certain degree of interest, if you could buy both in HD in one package for 50 bucks (budget price for an HD game). You don't think that would sell any copies, get any praise?.

Something old made new renews interest, that is fact. Buying multiple games for the price of one renews interest. Slap new controls on an old game=new interest. Slap HD on an old game=new interest.

Can you give me a game that slapped HD on the name and sold well?

I can give you a game or two that slapped Wii on the title and sold well...

Nobody has tried it (show me an HD remake that failed), that doesn't make the point less valid. If somebody made it, it would sell, you haven't even tried to argue that it wouldn't.

Look, you're just trolling, creating a criteria that no matter what happens you have something to complain about. Wii games sell, it's because wii gamers are stupid. If wii games don't sell, it's because wii gamers aren't gamers. As much as I love kittens, if I see yours in a wii topic I'm certain that adorable face is going to be looking for a fight.

So Golden Eye in HD, or Street Fighter HD are bad ideas and will sell badly? If some one made God Of War 1 and 2 in 1080P and resold it, you and other PS3 fans wouldn't be even the slightest bit interested?

GoldenEye is a ten(?) year old game, as is Street Fighter, which is why they'll be sold on XBL or PSN, or WW at a price of ten bucks.

And your GoW 1 + 2 thing is pure speculation, not proven by any fact.

So how bout that FF7 remake you and a bunch of other forum goers have been angling for?

If you want, you can see Metroid Prime 1 and 2 as 10 bucks each, and Metroid Prime 3 as the game that's 30 bucks. :p Metroid Prime 1 and 2 are not 10 years old games, either, and $20 is about the amount you have to pay if you try to get used both Metroid Prime 1 and 2 of gamecube. (Well, I got my used Metroid Prime 1 for a little more than 6 dollars, but amount to shipping fee, it becomes 10 dollars.)

Unless this rumor is false, I don't see how the price of 50 bucks for all 3 Metroid Primes is a problem.

How old is FFVII?

ELEVEN.

How old is Metroid Prime 1?

Six?

Metroid Prime 2?

three and a half?

Metroid Prime 3?

8 months.

HUGE difference.

Can't the PS3 play FFVII?

The PS1 discs? Yeah

I just slapped my forehead when I realized what happened here. This whole argument is made moot by one big factor. We're talking about buying 3 games for the price of 1. The whole "You'll pay for anything with waggle!!" argument is moot. We were discussing buying an entire trilogy remade sold as a single package initially, but cleverly the debate was made about whether or not it's stupid to buy metroid prime+waggle. Clever tactic, took me a minute to catch on. But this whole thing is made moot by the initial point. It's a solid deal to buy the whole trilogy remade.

This is part of the problem.

Wii owners are far too happy to accept remakes of games and will buy them in droves, so developers don't have to try hard to get a game to sell.

People have just stated that they'd buy the game, just for the IR controls. So the developer can slap on some new controls, and it'll be a guaranteed seller. Why try hard to innovate, or change, when people will buy it either way? So the same people crying about Rock Band being a PS2 port only have themselves to blame, by buying games, simply because they're on the Wii, because it'd 'control better' (not in the case of RockBand, but you know what I mean).

Some people view it as a problem. I just like good games, and I don't particularly care if they've been good on other platforms in the past. I've never complained when a good port like Godfather, Okami, or Bully comes to Wii. Heck, I don't even care about the missing features in Rock Band Wii. The reasons why I won't buy that game are intrinsic to the title and have nothing to do with online or customizable avatars.

I know that the new and original games will come anyway. These games are just quick and inexpensive ways to get good games into the Wii library, and I appreciate that. You'd have to be a pretty foolish executive to think that ports and remakes will be enough to satisfy all Wii owners for the duration of the console's life.
