What reason do we have to believe it ever will? The gap between the two is either stagnant or slowly growing.

The reasons are the same that made the 360 suddenly sell more last september than the PS3, while it was constantly outsold : they will cut the price.

Other major reasons are the great exclusives, the biggest being GT5, then GoW 3 too.

GT5 is the biggest system seller for Sony. But the price cut will do even more.

@De85 : Shareholders definitely care if you lost several billions. 'Sunken costs' are painfully felt on the share price. Money lost comes from the shareholders pockets in a way.

Had the 360 failed, it would have been over for MS gaming consoles history...

You've never actually studied economics before, have you?

Investors certainly care while you're losing money because that will make the share price go down, but if you are currently making profits, and expect to make them in the future that will make the price go up.  Any money you may have lost in the past is irrelevant.  Do some research before you try to argue this point again as you just make yourself look uneducated.  Ask a few economists what they think...

Like someone said PS3 won't overtake 360 before next Xbox console is on the market. No chance.
