If the gameplay is unfamiliar, I start on Easy every time. If it is familiar, I start with Normal. If I really like the game, I’ll bump up the difficulty the next time I play it, but I’ll only play the hardest if I am trying to get all the Achievements. However, if the hardest difficulty is just obnoxious, then I don’t bother with anything higher than Normal.
I’ll play the occasional Souls game if I am in the mood to challenge myself, but I do wish PVP was entirely optional.
