Welcome to the February 2026 VGChartz estimates thread, which includes the dates from February 1 to 28. The articles breaking down February 2026 estimates will be posted in this thread.

VGChartz Methodology: Hardware estimates are based on retail sampling and trends in individual countries, which are then extrapolated to represent the wider region. This typically allows us to produce figures that end up being within 10% of the actual totals.

This data is regularly compared against official shipment figures released by the console manufacturers and figures estimated by regional trackers with greater market coverage than ourselves. We then update our own estimates to bring them into line with those figures. This can result in frequent changes often within a short space of time, but we feel it's important to prioritise accuracy over consistency.

Note that our estimates are based on sell-through data (units sold to consumers). In almost all cases the figures released by console manufacturers are based on shipment data (sell-in), where as soon as a device has left the factory and entered the supply chain for delivery it is considered a sale. This is why there is always a difference between the companies’ figures (sell-in) and VGChartz estimates (sell-through), even after we’ve made adjustments. The one exception to that is when a console has been discontinued and the remaining stock has finally sold out – at that point the figures will match.

PS5 Best-Seller, NS1 Tops DS - Worldwide Hardware Estimates for February 2026

The PlayStation 5 was the best-selling console worldwide with 840,179 units sold for February 2026, according to VGChartz estimates. The PS5 has sold 91.04 million units lifetime.

The Nintendo Switch 2 was the second best-selling console, with an estimated 811,435 units sold, to bring lifetime sales to 17.16 million units. The Nintendo Switch 1 was the third best-selling console, with an estimated 194,736 units sold, to bring lifetime sales to 154.16 million units. The Xbox Series X|S came in fourth place with 133,712 units sold, to bring its lifetime sales to 34.43 million units.

Switch 2 sales compared to the same month for the Switch 1 in 2018 are up by nearly 5,000 units, as the Switch 1 sold 806,466 units in February 2018.

PS5 sales compared to the same month for the PS4 in 2019 are down by over 138,000 units, while the Xbox Series X|S compared to the same month for the Xbox One are down by nearly 238,000 units. The PS4 sold 978,422 units for the month of February 2019 and Xbox One sales were at 371,516 units.

PlayStation 5 sales compared to the same month a year ago are down by 199,360 (-19.2%). Xbox Series X|S sales are down by 142,920 units (-51.7%) and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are down by 328,034 units (-62.8%).

Looking at sales month-on-month, Nintendo Switch 2 sales are up by nearly 46,000 units, PlayStation 5 sales are up by nearly 80,000 units, Xbox Series X|S sales are up by nearly 15,000 units, and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are up by over 15,000 units.

2026 year-to-date, the PlayStation 5 has sold an estimated 1.60 million units, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 1.58 million units, the Xbox Series X|S has sold 0.25 million units, and the Nintendo Switch 1 has sold 0.37 million units.

PS5 Best-Seller as Sales Top 32M LT - Europe Hardware Estimates for February 2026

The PlayStation 5 was the best-selling console in Europe with 290,650 units sold for February 2026, according to VGChartz estimates. The PS5 has sold 32.27 million units lifetime. 

The Nintendo Switch 2 was the second best-selling console with an estimated 192,560 units sold to bring lifetime sales to 3.94 million units. The Nintendo Switch 1 was the third best-selling console with an estimated 31,942 units sold to bring lifetime sales to 39.71 million units. The Xbox Series X|S came in fourth place with 22,913 units sold to bring its lifetime sales to 8.55 million units.

Switch 2 sales compared to the same month for the Switch 1 in 2018 are down by over 12,000 units as the Switch 1 sold 205,006 units in Europe in February 2018.

PS5 sales compared to the same month for the PS4 in 2019 are down by nearly 99,000 units, while the Xbox Series X|S compared to the same month for the Xbox One are down by nearly 68,000 units. PS4 sold 389,246 units for the month of February 2019 and Xbox One sales were at 90,858 units.

PlayStation 5 sales compared to the same month a year ago are down by 35,064 (-10.8%). Xbox Series X|S sales are down by 28,058 units (-55.1%) and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are down by 61,611 units (-65.9%).

Looking at sales month-on-month, PlayStation 5 sales are up by over 25,000 units, Switch 2 sales are up by nearly 36,000 units, Xbox Series X|S sales are up by over 3,000 units, and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are down by nearly 5,000 units.

2026 year-to-date, the PlayStation 5 has sold an estimated 0.56 million units, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 0.35 million units, the Nintendo Switch 1 has sold 0.07 million units, and the Xbox Series X|S has sold 0.04 million units.

PS5 Once Again Outsells NS2 - Americas Hardware Estimates for February 2026

The PlayStation 5 was the best-selling console in the Americas (USA, Canada, & Latin America) with 339,369 units sold for February 2026, according to VGChartz estimates. The PS5 has sold 35.59 million units lifetime.

The Nintendo Switch 2 was the second best-selling console with an estimated 281,175 units sold to bring lifetime sales to 5.95 million units. The Xbox Series X|S came in third place with 100,206 units sold to bring its lifetime sales to 21.44 million units. The Nintendo Switch was the fourth best-selling console with an estimated 55,706 units sold to bring lifetime sales to 58.90 million units.

Switch 2 sales compared to the same month for the Switch 1 in 2018 are down by nearly 31,000 units as the Switch 1 sold 311,782 units in the Americas in February 2018.

PS5 sales compared to the same month for the PS4 in 2019 are up by nearly 39,000 units, while the Xbox Series X|S compared to the same month for the Xbox One are down by nearly 124,000 units. PS4 sold 300,452 units for the month of February 2019 and Xbox One sales were at 223,945 units.

PlayStation 5 sales compared to the same month a year ago are down by 45,869 (-11.9%). Xbox Series X|S sales are down by 100,983 units (-50.2%) and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are down by 160,055 units (-74.2%).

Looking at sales month-on-month, Nintendo Switch 2 sales are up by over 56,000 units, PlayStation 5 sales are up by over 98,000 units, Xbox Series X|S sales are up by over 10,000 units, and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are up by nearly 14,000 units.

2026 year-to-date, the PlayStation 5 has sold an estimated 0.58 million units, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 0.51 million units, the Xbox Series X|S has sold 0.19 million units, and the Nintendo Switch 1 has sold 0.10 million units.

Switch 2 Once Again Dominates - Japan Hardware Estimates for February 2026

The Nintendo Switch 2 was the best-selling console in Japan with 283,640 units sold for February 2026, according to VGChartz estimates. The Nintendo Switch 2 has now sold an estimated 4.70 million units lifetime.

The Nintendo Switch 1 sold an estimated 86,155 units to bring its lifetime sales to 36.66 million units. The PlayStation 5 sold an estimated 48,202 units to bring its lifetime sales to 7.42 million units. The Xbox Series X|S sold 3,861 units to bring their lifetime sales to 0.70 million units.

Switch 2 sales compared to the same month for the Switch 1 in 2018 are up by over 104,000 units as the Switch 1 sold 179,380 units in Japan in February 2018.

PS5 sales compared to the same month for the PS4 in 2019 are down by over 35,000 units, while the Xbox Series X|S compared to the same month for the Xbox One are up by over 3,000 units. PS4 sold 83,325 units for the month of February 2019 and Xbox One sales were at 405 units.

Nintendo Switch 1 sales compared to the same month a year ago are down by 81,931 units (-48.7%). PlayStation 5 sales are down by 104,830 (-68.5%) and Xbox Series X|S sales are down by -3,560 units (-48.0%).

Looking at sales month-on-month, Nintendo Switch 2 sales are down by over 32,000 units, Nintendo Switch 1 sales are up by over 11,000 units, PlayStation 5 sales are up by over 5,000 units, and Xbox Series X|S sales are up by over 2,000 units.

2026 year-to-date, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold an estimated 0.60 million units, the Nintendo Switch 1 has sold 0.15 million units, the PlayStation 5 has sold 0.09 million units, and the Xbox Series X|S has sold 0.01 million units.

Hmmmmmm
The yoy drop of ns indicating that it will sell 845k this year.
684k for the rest 42 weeks 16k weekly.
However, the drop percentage after may will be lower, since in June 2025 ns had a steep dwindling in sales due to ns2 realese.
So thrilling to watch if it can pull another million.

We have some preliminary data for Europe. The little bit of data we have is showing sales in February will be similar to January in Europe.

PlayStation 5 sales compared to the same month a year ago are down by 35,064 (-10.8%). Xbox Series X|S sales are down by 28,058 units (-55.1%) and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are down by 61,611 units (-65.9%).

Looking at sales month-on-month, PlayStation 5 sales are up by over 25,000 units, Switch 2 sales are up by nearly 36,000 units, Xbox Series X|S sales are up by over 3,000 units, and Nintendo Switch 1 sales are down by nearly 5,000 units.

2026 year-to-date, the PlayStation 5 has sold an estimated 0.56 million units, the Nintendo Switch 2 has sold 0.35 million units, the Nintendo Switch 1 has sold 0.07 million units, and the Xbox Series X|S has sold 0.04 million units.
