Yes, there are ideas. The problem is that they're poorly acted, poorly written, and poorly implemented. That whole "storytelling" thing kinda flies right over Kojima's head.
But your idea of a mature storytelling seems to be "less is more" which is clearly not the case in philosophy. If you want to have a truly indepth knowledge of philosophical ideas and subject matter you need to expose them in long winded text. They should be present either fleshed out completely or not at allb if they're going to be dumbed down as they were in MGS3. You can't do philosophy "gracefully"with allusions or such, that's simply touching upon the subject matter not exploring it. There's a difference between presenting idea's and providing in depth review of the subject matters.

Then Kojima should write a philosophical text and stop torturing us by trying to force his message into a media that doesn't work well with his ideas.

I have to say, for a mod you troll an awful lot. Every MGS thread you have to say something negative about the series or MGS2. We get it, you don't like it, make your own thread if you're so intent on discussing it. This thread is about MGO.

OT: I thought it was good, nothing amazing. There are some improvements to be made, but it is a beta afterall.

You're treading on awfully thin ice right now. I'm not the one who brought up the MGS series, Billy was. I made an offhand comment about MGO and Japanese online games. Billy is the one who wanted to fire up this inane conversation again.

Lol, you what? You've mistaken me for billy07. Hmm ok you've edited your post.

Yes, billy07 brought it up, but you're still engaging in an off topic argument as you've done in the past in various MGS related threads.

You're a mod you should know better, you should've warned him.

For the love of God, don't tell me how to moderate. It's particularly ironic coming from someone who's been banned for trolling the Nintendo forum. This is the gaming forum. Threads are always going off-topic around here in case you haven't noticed. It's not as if I pop into every MGS4 thread and rant about how much I hated 2.

Given the amount Nintendo fans here I wasn't surprised when I was banned for no reason other than saying something negative about the Wii.

Yes, threads always go off-topic but that doesn't mean it's right. Like I said, you're a mod you should know better. And yes you do seem to rant about MGS2 every chance you get. I'm sure there are a number of people who can testify to that.

Heh, you gotta be careful trolling the Nintendo forum considering the mods here and so many Wii fans...

I know right. I got a warning in this thread for trolling by DKII (is he a Nintendo fan?) - http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?start=0&id=24893

I'd love to know why. Everything I said was on topic and merely an opinion.

I strongly disagree. The plot is ridiculously convoluted (which some people confuse for "deep"), the pacing is terrible, and the acting is atrocious.

Ask yourself this: If The Patriots were introduced to you in a movie or novel, would you roll your eyes at the ridiculous nature of it all? If your answer is yes, why do you believe MGS has an excellent storyline? Think about it for a minute. The peripheral characters of the MGS series are unintentionally absurd and would be laughed at by everyone if they were presented in any format other than a videogame.

eh? The Patriots? There are still many things to know about them. And I think I've read many SF books with many ridiculous inventions to let such a thing as the Patriots impress me. I think it's an interesting concept, although I reiterate I still want some more information about this "primordial soup" that gave birth to this Artificial Intelligence. Seriously, after I played the whole series again (also finished MGS: PO just a while ago) and read a couple of "story summaries" in gamefaqs, the main thing that still makes me GRIND MY TEETH is Liquid's arm! Now that is some shit right there!

You really dislike MGS I can't even understand how that is possible. For me, Resident Evil and MGS are the best games series ever. Nothing even comes close.

Oh well, I'm glad lots of people like MGS so I can keep getting my Kojima fix

Am i the only one who actually loves it???

No you're not, I think it's the best PS3 shooter period. The maps, the skills, the controls, the weapons, everything. This game kicks Warhawk's ass into the stratosphere.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I think everyone expected the most revolutionary multiplayer experience ever, and that it would play like an FPS.

It's a 3rd person and 1st person shooter rolled into one, you can play it as either or both. This game is revolutionary, there is no other shooter like it, it's like MGS+Gears+Counter Strike+ SoCom+Call of Duty rolled into one. Also people saying they should have kept the old controls are out of their minds, MGS series had one of the most convoluted Control systems ever. The new system is a massive improvement over the old. Suffice it to say based on what I've played so far of MGO, I would buy this game alone at full price. It's better than Warhawk and UT III combined. By the way, why are people discussing MGS story in a thread about MGO? Rocketpig you have a personal crusade against MGS' story then do it elsewhere.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Ive had time to get comfortable with the game and I love it. People expecting COD4 will be upset because its not as easy, simple as. Brilliant game.

Well getting back to MGO, I've been playing it the past few hours.  So far it is really fun.  I won't be going back to COD4, at least not until the beta is over.

For my own good? What are you gonna do, ban me? I'm sorry but you're just wrong. I'm not the only one telling you to stay on topic.
