Genuinely curious on why you feel that way. Just finished Requiem and really enjoyed it, but it didn't blow me away to the point I don't think it could be topped. For me it may be a GOTY winner in a relatively mediocre year of gaming.

If somebody likes a game, why trigger a debate on how the game is actually not as good as they think? Just let them glaze their game in peace lol.

The point of a goty thread is inherently to discuss the quality of games.

But not trying to prevent anyone from enjoying a game which as I said, I liked a lot. I'm just honestly curious about what people are seeing that I didnt.

Resident Evil Requiem : 10/10

I just finished it with the “good” ending: absolutely amazing! For me it's the best Resident Evil of all time—yes, even better than Resident Evil 4. So this Requiem is going straight into my top 10 favorite games.

Grace and Leon are definitely my favorite characters in the Resident Evil series. Grace is touching and fascinating, while Leon in this RE9 is simply the most charismatic Leon in the series. Gone are the days of the rookie cop from RE2; Leon is jaded and brutal, much to our delight. The “modern” and “dark” atmosphere is sublime. The character design is perfect; Grace is absolutely stunning (women will say the same thing—but about Leon). Finally, I highly recommend setting the voices to English or Japanese, as Grace’s voice acting is a work of art.

You get “Survival Horror” when playing as Grace and “Gore-Filled Action Survival” when playing as Leon. And these two distinct gameplay styles complement each other perfectly. I personally played in third-person for both Grace and Leon, but I’ll play in first-person with Grace for my next run. It took me 19 hours to finish the game in standard mode, and given the quality of the title, the replay value is definitely there. Especially with the upcoming story DLC.

There’s no question about it: a gem, a MUST-HAVE.

I already have a strong contender: Resident Evil Requiem. Anything else that comes out this year would have to be really amazing to top it, and I don't see that happening.

Not even in a mediocre year. Requiem genuinely scratches a lot of my itches in gaming. Pacing is great, it's genuinely tense, which is a sense I don't get from a lot of games, and its visuals are stunning.

Thank you for this detailed post! I've added another notch for Requiem.
