Forums - Gaming - Spiritual successors that best recapture the magic

Glad Leynos mentioned Bomb Rush Cyberfunk! Can't believe I forgot that lol

I gotta give a shoutout to Bioshock though!!! The best possible spiritual successor to System Shock we could've gotten.

Also BallisticNG. Spiritual successor to WipEout! Even the studios name is a nod to Psygnosis with Neognosis. Love the game and even the ability to create your own custom soundtracks.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Around the Network

Kaze and the Wild Masks reminds me a lot of Rare's Donkey Kong Country trilogy. Great game.

Shadow Complex did Metroid justice... and then some. What a great game it was.

Not a spiritual successor at all. Just a game in that genre. It in no way tries to succeed Metroid in setting or character. Otherwise we would have to call Wonderboy or Hollow Knight a successor. Why I didn't list something like Sin N Punishment as it's a game in the same genre as Space Harrier, but not a successor.

I consider it one. I mean, it was doing Dread before Dread did Dread.
