Is there a reason why the whole world is getting hit with one blow after another? Its really sad.
I am from Germany 10 years ago everybody was telling us that the European Union had this gigantic overproduction of food and farmers were given money to reduce their production.
The biggest problem was that this depressed wheat etc. prices on the world market and poor country farmers couldn't get any money for their products.
Now asia is starting to get richer, eats more meat etc. and additionally we have this stupid bio fuel business. Since most people besides farmers and greens agrees that biofuels from grain are stupid as hell we should stop that. Make biofuels from sugar (brazil), switchgrass or in the future from cellulose. But not from grain.
Do you know what a pig cycle is? When there is high demand prices rocket and people start to produce lots of pigs etc. Then 1-2 years after there is a huge overproduction and prices plummet causing people to stop producing pigs. Which results in high demand and so on. Its similar for wheat the only thing is it takes much longer to increase production so the cycles are longer.
