Which is the best?

Gamecube 26 38.81%

PS4 32 47.76%

Xbox Series 3 4.48%

Dreamcast 6 8.96%

Total:67

Gamecube because it plays GBA, GBC, GB and GC games. That's a massive library of quality games to delve through. Dreamcast and PS4 are both powerful contenders, though. Especially Dreamcast because it is still getting new games in 2025 and beyond. A lot of people tend to overlook the DC library but it has just as many absolute bangers as PS4, NES, SNES, PS1, etc.

So here's a list of kickass Dreamcast games for you guys to look up...

How is the GC equal with the PS4 in the poll? It's bulls***. The PS4 has a much better library and is the better all around console. GC has like only a dozen of great games because it suffered from 3rd party support. I remember the GC had long periods of no new games. PS4 is still getting quality games after over a decade

Not everyone here has the PS4.  I personally would pick the PS4 it's my favorite Playstation console. The Gamecube was a fantastic console home of Resident Evil that generation, every game that was on both the Gamecube and PS2 looked better on the Gamecube.

So all of a sudden graphics matters now. You can say the same with the PS4, almost every game that was on the Wii U, Xbox one and PS4 looked better on the PS4. GC had Resident Evil 4 it's nothing compared to PS4's dozens of great 3rd party games. PS4 also has just as many great 1st party games as the GC. Ratchet, GoW, Uncharted, Spiderman, Gran Turismo, bloodborne, Horizon, The last of us, Ghost of Tsushima are all highly rated 1st party games on PS4. GC library is very similar to the Wii U, both had some great 1st party games but the PS4 destroyed the Wii U. I have a feeling if someone makes a poll for PS4 vs Wii U the Wii U would win here

Dreamcast is so weirdly overrated. I've owned one with around 30 games. Dreamcast's library doesn't have a single game that is largely considered "one of the greatest of all time", and the library on the whole is tiny, because the console didn't last long. Next to some solid Arcade ports, Its most relevant/iconic games were Soul Calibur (a relatively unpopular series. PS2 had Soul Calibur 2 and 3 which are arguably superior, but no wow-factor), Shenmue (Awesome in some ways for its time, but certainly not an all-time great, and aged very poorly), and Sonic Adventure (Meh. Cool for its time and I liked it for what it was, aged terribly).

Yeah Ikaruga is often considered one of the best games of all time and one of the best in the genre and DC is full of great games and some of the all time best but keep living in an ignorant world. Gamecube only has about 30 more games than DC.

Ikaruga is a small game and is nowhere near being one of the best ever outside its very niche genre (which is a genre I grew up with and loved, but I'm not so blind as to act like it's super relevant). It was also ported to GameCube only 3 months later, with an international release shortly after that (Dreamcast's was Japan exclusive). If Ikaruga is an "all-timer" you might as well claim a thousand other games are all-timers. It's neither significant enough nor a Dreamcast exclusive. All-timers are determined by the consensus, not you or me.

Dreamcast's original games rarely get mentioned in any all-time lists. I'm sorry if this strikes a nerve. GameCube's library of relevant original games is bigger, generally better received, better selling, and much more frequently mentioned in all relevant gaming sites, not just VGChartz. Power to you if you prefer Dreamcast, but I'm of the opinion that it was good but not great, and you don't have to agree with this. It had many great games, just nothing quite on the level of RE4 or Metroid Prime or many other games from that generation as far as the consensus goes.

I voted for Dreamcast, because of the innovation, unique identity and having some quite outstanding exclusives for the time. PS4 of course has an exceptional library and got support for an incredible amount of time.
GameCube to me felt like a poor competitor for PS2 and Xbox, it had some strong exclusives, but compared to some of Nintendo’s more successful consoles, it wasn’t that impressive. A lot of really disappointing games too. Still a good console though.
Series S/X just feels unnecessary at this point, everything it got is playable elsewhere, the price is uanacceptable, and physical releases are sparce. It doesn’t even fo anything new compared to Xbox One.
I might even put it below the Jaguar, which at least had a few interesting exclusives and in some aspects were technically impressive for its time.

I'm gonna choose the PS4 even though I didn't own one. My reasoning is that when I got a PS5 and I was able to play PS5 games along with all the games I missed out, I totally fell in love with the PS4 library.

Not just all of the great third parties (Witcher 3, XCOM2, Kingdom Come: Deliverance) but the exclusives were just firing in all cylinders. Heck, Ghost of Tsushima and TLOUII became some of my all-time favorites!

Highly unlikely, Wii U is significantly less well liked than the Gamecube.

I don't know why you're so worked up, it's not like the Gamecube is dominating the poll, it's quite close.

Why is it close? Objectively, the PS4 is a much better console. Some people here might say it's because they never owned a PS4 so they chose the GC but one would think more people here would own a PS4 since it nearly outsold the GC by 100 million but whatever

When I have time I'll make a list comparing PS4 library to GC library. If you stick to good games and ignore Indies GC library is quite good compared to PS4. Also there's a lot of recency bias here. How many PS4 games will be considered classics in a decade?
