Forums - Microsoft - Update: Microsoft claims retailers remain "committed" to Xbox

Microsoft has shot down the rumors stating retailer are committed in selling Xbox consoles, accessories, and games.

Microsoft statement: "Target and Walmart, among other retailers, remain committed partners for Xbox consoles, accessories, and games."

Xbox Series X stock has had issues lately with it being unavailable at times then all of a sudden a restock, while Xbox Series S stock has been more readily available.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if retailers shrink the size of the Xbox section. The majority of Xbox consoles sold this generation are digital only, so I doubt many physical games are getting sold for Xbox at this point.

Unlike many I don't wish for the demise of Xbox, as I believe competition makes gaming better for the players, but it's hard for me to take Microsoft at their word given how many times they've walked back on their promises in recent years.

The next 12 months or so will tell the tale; the way things are going, they're gonna need a miracle to keep their console business afloat.

Target still lists the Xbox Series S in the USA. The Xbox Series X say's not available for pickup, same day delivery, or shipping.

Just checked the MS Store console hardware situation in mainland europe. France and Germany are the only countries where MS currently has available hardware. All of the other countries they have no stock of Series S/X including no refurbished units in stock either.

I wonder if Microsoft intends to release their new "Xbox PC's" (besides handhelds like ROG Xbox Ally) much sooner than we think, but will go with ridiculous prices ($2000+) for the very top model.

How would the highend PC community react to a $2000 Xbox-PC if it somehow beats more expensive setups in performance? Obviously it won't sell anywhere near console levels, but it might do well for its new class.

Maybe they could offer the best price-to-performance for a prebuilt PC, but they're never going to beat the price of building your own. And the vast majority of people who are enthusiast enough to spend $2k on a system will be building their own.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Sorry, but at this point, its hard to believe anything MS say. In last 11 years, ever since a guy who destroyed Xbox brand was put in charge, all i hear is non sense after non sense after non sense. IN my country you can only buy Xbox from grey market sellers. You cant buy it in any official store.
Xbox still have a chance to come back, but to do that they need to return to Xbox only games, they have a loooooooooooot of them, and they need to get rid of Spencer and Bond. These two single handedly destroyed everything that previous Xbox heads worked over decade to build.

EB Games in Australia has been winding down their Xbox section as well.

I think Microsoft is just clearing inventory for a 2026 release of next-gen hardware.
