SEGA Dreamcast for 3D. A lot of sentimental reasons and stuff like Shenmue not just visuals but abilities in that game and other games on DC blew me away. PLus the colorful crisp look of everything.

2D is any 16-bit console and Saturn. 16-Bit games still look good and 2D on Saturn is better than any console of its era. The Capcom fighting games esp or Princess Crown. Astal and others.

Yeah this is my take as well, pretty much.

I feel like the Dreamcast aesthetic holds up really well considering it's coming up on 30 years old:

16 and 32 bit 2D is also timeless. I'll also throw in Neo Geo for it's epic pixel art:

I'd say I much prefer the more modern consoles where developers can create games that look however they want them to - but if I have to pick an aesthetic from back when consoles were more homogenic, I'd go with the SNES.

is it really the individual console...or the generation as a whole and the technology available at the time or even the individual developer that creates the "graphical aesthetic"?  Atari, Coleco Vision and others of that time all had the same look for the games.  I can't say that I'd look at games on either of those consoles and be like "Woah! Coleco Vision has the best graphical aesthetic over it's competition man!"

same goes for the 8 bit era, 16 bit era
