Forums - Nintendo - North American Wii games not getting released in PAL regions

Why is it that some Wii games make it to North America but not PAL territories? I can see why publishers don't want to take the risk on some Japanese games in the West but the North American and PAL markets aren't that different. For example, soccer isn't big in North America yet Pro Evo 2008 was still released for that market. So why hasn't MLB Power Pros had a European release? There is demand in PAL territories for baseball games, especially with motion sensing.

We also miss out on Backyard Baseball, Backyard Football and other sports titles, but it's not just sports games that don't have a significant European following that aren't getting released. For example, Europe has no release planned for Castle of Shikigami 3, Target: Terror, The History Channel: Battle for the Pacific, Indianapolis 500 Legends, Luxor: Pharaoh's Challenge, We Ski, Ultimate Duck Hunting, etc.

I'm sure there are also plenty of games that see PAL releases but not North American ones. The cultures aren't that different so beyond niche games tied into TV shows etc like Cheggers' Party Quiz I can't see why they don't get released in both territories.

Around the Network

Im sure games like We Ski will definitely be released in Europe. As for the others, you really are not missing much. Im not sure why Power Pros never made it over there, but rest assured, with some patience, you will be pleasantly surprised.
