Great to hear that - after much deliberation (and lamentations over G3 Gen 3 being in KONKR Pocket Fit and not in AYN Thor), I will be finally pulling the trigger by the end of the week.

My only real cons with the device.

1. When the fan is going and you move the device around it makes a weird lightsabre esque sound with the moving air. Though should never be a problem in gameplay unless you're playing a game with gyro, slight movements don't cause it.

2. The USB charger is on the bottom, making it awful to use while playing, thankfully it has great battery so you shouldn't really need to do this much.

3. When you plug it in to charge it wakes the device and screen, even with the lid closed. They are working on fixing this with an update IIRC.

Hm...just looked it up, it seems that this might be an issue with type of fan used (and perhaps not so great quality control at AYN as well, it seems Thor is in very high demand). BassDerek says AYN send him replacement fan, but it hasn't arrived yet - eager to see if it fixes the issue, or AYN needs to switch to some other fans.

Oh man, this official SteamOS on ARM64 is massive.

Currently 3 devices are built on same SoC as Steam Frame (KONKR Pocket Fit G3, AYANEO POCKET S2 and ONEXSUGAR Sugar 1), but, beside fully expecting more devices built around 8 Gen 3/G3 Gen 3, I also expect that pretty much all Snapdragon 8s will run great "natively" with Steam OS...I think that now it's just matter of time until we get to see official ARM handhelds with SteamOS.

Well, it seems that replacement fan doesn't help much, so, as some already suggested, this is issue with actual type of fan used.

That and first reports of hinges developing potential hairline fractures are kinda worrying, after all the hype of retro handheld community about Thor.

Initial preview of Anbernic RG DS by Phawx

Latency between screens seems to be software issue (after ~40s of inactivity one screen lowers its refresh rate to 40Hz) which should be easily solved by software update.

SoC is weak, but for its main purpose (DS games) it delivers (up to Dreamcast, as per Phawx).

I got an Ayn Thor last week, and have been thoroughly enjoying it. The idea was to replace my 3DS, and Vita (will still keep them, but probably will use them less), but I also have played some Wii and GC games on it too.

Majora's Mask 3DS looks great on the OLED screen @3x the resolution. Similar for the The Last Story (Wii) and a few other games I've played.

Additionally, I have actually used it as a device to get me off my phone before bed. My phone sends me a lot of notifications that make me stay awake longer than I would have. With the Ayn Thor I might browse the internet, but it is much more intentional than with my phone. Reminds me of using the Wii U's browser about a decade ago.

I'm thinking my next PC handheld will be a future revision of the Ayaneo Flip (or a clamshell, dual-screen competitor), whenever a decent mobile chipset revision releases with much better performance than the Z1e, considering this.

@sc94597
I was deliberating a bit too long, so now I have to wait for Thor's Batch 2 deliveries.

AYANEO Flip DS is actually what would suit my needs the best - clamshell, dual-screen, fits in smaller satchel, even though it's 7" screen, can run most of Steam library I want to play on the go in short bursts - but I find it to be too pricey for my use case. I personally don't need handheld at home, in few cases when I do, I stream to 10" tablet hooked to one of those stretchable gamepads made for phones/tablets, so I'm hoping for SteamOS on ARM to kickstart major handheld disruption in next 2 years.
