I want my achievements to get tracked, but I had to get rid of Xbox Live since there were a bunch of wires running across my room and it made the place look like crap. Does anyone know of any alternatives to the horrendously expensive 360 Wi-Fi? It's one thing to not include it with the system, but...

I would try and hide the cord somewhere not seen. It's a darn shame your somewhere in Montana, because one of my peeps bought a 360 Wi-Fi adapter and no longer uses it. I would ask him to give it to you, but hmmmmm...sorry your to far away..

I'm not somewhere in Montana. I'm somewhere in Maryland. Dang, that confuses a lot of people. Still though, I'm sure as hell not telling you my address .

 This might help: http://uk.gear.ign.com/articles/792/792434p1.html

Although the Wifi Adaptor is currently selling at $85 now on Amazon.com. Its not so bad.

I've never used that particular device but I have a buffalo router and that thing is rock solid.  I've gone through Linksys, netgear, and belkin stuff and it's never been as smooth as my buffalo router.

Right now I'm just using the xbox 360 one but I got it used for like $55 at Gamestop.

High Def Movie Collection

Whats with everybody asking for their games to be put in the platinum list thing. Put all mine in too then. Undertow shouldn't be put in because it's "hard" but aegis wing should because it's "easy". That's what I got from the days posts so far. If you're going to add one free game, add the other.

Personally, I think you should stop with the old games. It was originally popular games with hard achievements. Now it's every game with more than 10 owners with questionably hard achievements. There's plenty of new games, just add those when they come out and go forward.

League Change Idea:

Instead of adding a ton of past games to the platinum list, this would be my idea to always encourage new players with new games and make eagleeyes job easier. First, not all "race" games have to become platinum games. The races are made in advance on assumptions games will be popular and some just aren't.

Second, keep the platinum list to a set minimum of 50 games (top 40 retail, top 10 arcade for example). Keep it to the most popular 50 games that deserve to be in there and whenever a new game comes out and passes the last game on that list in total owners you rotate #50 out and add this new game in. This will keep the list always changing by adding new games and prevents one person from racking up game pictures by their name because they played every game that came out before. It will shake up the leader list and always keep the top people on their toes because they have to master new games when old games get removed.

Eagle you're eventually going to add a bunch of old games with new games and the list is going to become a huge mess and too hard for you to keep track of.  You don't want to add games forever until you're eventually keeping track of 100+ games each week just to see if anybody got a high score on them do you?

In a nutshell: Keep the list to a set number. Add the games that the majority of people own, alternate new popular games in and take one game out from the old list (either by removing the least popular or oldest game). Changing list encourages more competition and hopefully prevents domination from a select few people.

I'm going to have to agree with just about everything erikers said. I think the list is fine where it is. I'm not sure about deleting games from the list like erikers said, perhaps only if they aren't popular. I don't believe that many more of the older games need to be added. In any case for games that have been released recently or for future games I support having a minimum requirement of players of said game before it qualifies for a platinum award. 10 is too low, so 20 sounds about right. If a game is worthy then more than 20% of us will want to play it.

There are 42 games on the platinum list. 35 retail and 7 arcade.

Here are lists of retail and arcade games in the league with at least 20 players...

Games with an asterisk are not on the platinum list.

Retail games with at least 20:

The only reason I suggested the removing an old game is because it would be a list that grows forever and it would be too much work for one person.

From enamrah's list, my only thought is we decide to remove games that wouldn't be popular unless they were free regardless of the # of owners. Example: remove games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Undertow, Aegis Wing, yaris etc...

I can agree with your point about free games, erikers. As always the number of players and achievement difficulty should be paramount for deciding what deserves a platinum award. I'd take a wait-and-see approach for removing games though. There's only 42 right now but there are some quality games on the way so the platinum list should grow expeditiously in the coming months. By at least 15 before the end of the year. I guess it depends upon how many of us are going to open up our wallets.

@MontanaHatchet: wall ethernet plugs (which work over electricity) are a good alternative although they can get expensive but could be used for any hardware.

They seems to be fine for latency as well as a few of my mates have them for the 360, my biggest concern with Wireless is that the latency still isnt soo great.

THanks for your feedback guys.

- Not all Races become Platinum games, thats already true. For example, I didnt add Galaga Legions, and if Mercs 2, Infinite Undiscovery dont reach high enough, I wont either. I will add that info into the League Rules to make it more clear.

- I certainly agree that there will come a point where I reach the maximum no. of games I want to track to put a cap on my workload.

But, based on what you said, you want me to sort by popularity as the only factor alone?

Based on eNamrah's list, if sorting just by popularity of 20 members and no freebies, this would mean:

To add (13): COD2, Viva Pinata, PGR3, RSV1, Splinter Cell DA, Sonic, Carcassone, Castle Crashers, Pacman CE

To remove (8): Civ Rev, Ace Combat 6, UT3, Burnout Paradise, PDZ, GRAW, BF:BC, Bionic Commando

This brings my list to 40 Retail and 10 Arcade = 50 games tracked.

I dont think Im going to do the above.

Because, this would mean I have to add a whole bunch of old games and remove a lot of new games with difficult Achievements. And I already make sure I only add one game from a franchise (with a couple of exceptions like Guitar Hero, Gears, GeoWars).

Now I fully support having to put a maximum and I like the 50 game max. So that means that there are still games to add but we havent reached it yet. There are still 5 Retail / 3 Arcade to make the list.

I think you didnt like the games I will be adding and thats the issue: Army of Two, Splinter Cell DA, Ikaruga, TMNT 1989 Arcade, Hexic HD, Undertow, N+

Well I think Im not going to add Undertow (free), Hexic HD (too old, one of the first games that made it out).

That leaves me to add 3 more Retail games which would be: COD2, Viva Pinata, PGR3

Now the problem I see already happening with this is that this actually adds more work for me. Now I have to track the number of people actually playing each game and edit the Plat List as necessary, when previously once a game is added, thats that and it just takes me a few seconds to check the high score and make any changes. So for example, now that Castle Crashers reached 27 members, it certainly wil be added and if I had to remove a game, then I would have had to check all my XBLA games to see which has the lowest.

Hmmmm.. this is a kinda rollercoaster post and Im back to where I started. I already limit the games by franchise and I try to add as much variety of games as possible. I dont think the list is too big yet.

@erikers

Maybe if you could do a list like eNamrah on the Plat list games that you think should make it and should be removed and lets discuss. But from how I see it now, making some of your league changes will actually add more work (and bring a lot of disgruntled platinum winners).
